Rest and a charcoal face mask

Yesterday, I took half the day off as a sick day. I felt exhausted at around noon. The rainy, gloomy weather outside affected me indoors.

I'm glad that I did. I ended up napping and reading. I felt a lot better with some rest.

I am currently using a charcoal face mask. My facial muscles are so relaxed right now. I look scary in a black mask, though.

Long week, especially dealing with a colleague who jumped the gun

This week feels long already. I had to deal with a project manager who can't read.

I had sent a bunch of links for a couple of developers to review, clearly asking them to review my work. This project manager decided to forward them to a different department and said that my work was done. What? It was an incredibly premature move.

It's sad that I had to explicitly state that it's not done in my eyes. My work needs an internal review first.

It's unfortunate that the developer who originally forwarded his work to me had copied this project manager on it. Next time, I will remove her completely from the message when I respond because she can't read.

Ugh!

Long weekend is nearly here with my new toy

One more workday until my long weekend. Yay!

I'll have lots of time to play with my new toy. I found the online manual. I have read it. I am ready!

Theory about a mysterious gift last Christmas

Just before Christmas, I received a book from an anonymous person. I saw the Amazon Prime sticker on the box and thought that it was something that I had ordered that had arrived. I ripped the box open and still don't know who sent me this book.

I have been thinking that it may have been the ex-guy. He has an Amazon Prime membership. He obviously knows where I live. I haven't communicated with him since I told him to stop contacting me last July. He has never mentioned anything about this book. He likely got confirmation that the shipment was delivered and was satisfied with that information.

The book? It's The Longevity Paradox by Steven R. Gundry. It's essentially a book about how to live a long, healthy, happy life.

Perhaps the ex felt guilty that he broke my heart and ruined a part of my life that this book would help me. Maybe he truly wants me to live a longer, happier life.

Anyway, I haven't read much from it. I suppose that I should and see if I do grow old, happy, and healthy.

Back at work and being with oddballs

My first day back at work was busy, but it went well. I got the work that I needed to catch up on completed. I helped troubleshoot an issue that resulted in having three happy people being able to access a site.

It's not a revelation, but the day made me realize how my colleagues in my department are not exactly leaders:
  • The oldest guy on our team talks a lot. He spent twenty minutes talking about an office chair. He also can't figure out how to add a software application on his laptop if his life depended on it.
  • The diva injures herself often. She fell on the weekend and has tore a thigh muscle. She has been away on sick leave for the last two days.
  • My friend can't read for beans. She sent me a screenshot saying that she has the application installed. The message had the exact application name mentioned three times, which wasn't what she had.
More than half the team does not have this application installed. Had I not stepped in, everyone wouldn't have properly ordered this application. I sometimes wonder why I care so much when my colleague seem indifferent. It's because that's who I am. They need a ton of guidance.

Because my intern has moved over to being under the direct supervision of diva, he is now doing all her work while she recovers. I feel for him. However, I have trained him well that I know that he can doing this work with flying colours.

It's such an odd setup on our team. On the plus side, some people are now realizing how much value and skills I bring to this team when I am either away or don't handle these tasks that I once did.

Donuts and the wait

Last night, I slept like a rock. It was great.

It's a long weekend. I have been craving donuts for a couple of months. I went a bit crazy on Saturday. I ordered six donuts from Tim Hortons and a dozen from Krispy Kreme.

I waited for nearly three hours to go through the Krispy Kreme drive-thru to place my order. Yes, these donuts are that good.

I don't consume donuts often. This pandemic has made me want some badly.

The wait truly didn't feel that long. Mind you, I am pretty patient to begin with. However, I ended up reading, listening to music, and writing. It certainly made the time pass by faster than I had anticipated.

I am pleased with my donut haul. I will be pacing myself!

Surprise text full of honest, sweet thoughts

The man in my life is sweet and mushy. He poured his heart out in a text last night to me. It was poignant.

He had said that he can't write a novel. He proved himself wrong. It was nice and I woke up wiht a smile on my face reading it.

It's nice to feel loved again. To feel like someone out there cares and is genuinely sweet.

Book on coping with a breakup and periodic thoughts about my ex-guy

A few weeks ago, I bought a book on how to cope with a breakup. I started reading the first chapter, but got busy with a couple of trips. The chapter that I did read put me at ease.

My problem isn't keeping busy. From being on vacation, and being out and about, to getting through work tasks, I don't have a chance to think about my ex-guy.

The problem occurs when I am not busy. My mind floats over to the loving moments that we had together, as well as the fact that I deserved better towards the end of our relationship. Before I go to bed, I think of him. When I am driving home and my commute is nothing to sneeze at, he pops up in my head. It just happens.

I didn't have this issue with my ex-hubby. The difference is that I loved my ex-guy. I fell out of love with the ex-hubby.

I am far from being over him. Baby steps. Gone is my mild anxiety about us not being a couple, which is a positive sign.

This weekend, I hope to read more chapters out of this book. Perhaps my memories and thoughts of him will slowly subside.

Fun weekend with friends and upcoming vacation

It has been a good weekend. I got together with a couple of friends on Saturday. I was out for practically the entire day, which was the main reason why I didn't have anything to post here. I was tired from being out and about.

I still have moments of sadness. They mostly happen at night, just before I fall asleep.

Last week, I received my book on how to handle a breakup. I need to find time to read it. I am off on vacation starting this upcoming weekend, so it'll give me some time to relax, unwind, and read.

Weekends are way too short. Luckily, it's my last workweek before I can make this upcoming one much longer.

Boxing Day, cuddling, gifts, and reading

Happy Boxing Day! I normally don't go out on Boxing Day for sales. It's too crazy dealing with aggressive shoppers. I also don't have anything I truly need to get.

The other day, while my guy and I were cuddling, he asked his usual question.
"What would you like for Christmas?" he asked me. "I'm late, as always."
"I know. I have your presents already," I cited. "You've been travelling, so you have a good reason."
Naturally, my gift was having him to myself when he came off the plane and drove to the hotel to spend some time together. I truly have all that I need.

Frankly, I feel like I don't read as much as I should.
"I don't have Jann Arden's latest book," I replied. "It's a hardcover one."
"I didn't realize that she was an author," my guy admitted, as he knows that I love her music.
"Yes, she is. I have all her books so far, but haven't got around to picking up this one."
I have two weeks off from work. It's the perfect time to curl up and read when it's all white outside.

Reading Grey in the doctor's office and thinking about ben wa balls

I had my quarterly doctor's appointment on Wednesday afternoon. I work from home on Wednesdays, so it isn't a big deal for me to work an extra couple of hours or so, to make up for my time away.

As expected, my doctor was running late. I was the first appointment after lunch, too.

I do come prepared. I have done everything from playing games on my phone to actually doing work on my laptop.

This time, I decided to pull out my Kobo app and read a book. I am more than halfway through reading Grey, which is essentially the Fifty Shades of Grey book, except that it is written from Christian Grey's perspective. I got it on sale just after Christmas.

Before my doctor came to see me, I was reading the part where Christian inserts ben wa balls in Ana, and then spank her across his knee with his hand. He first spanked her over her black lacy panties with his bare hand and then took them down to continue spanking her.

Before he spanked her, he tucked her hair behind her ear. He wanted to see her expression after each smack. He also kissed her backside afterwards.

All these details are reminiscent of what my guy and I do. I like wearing lacy black panties. He likes to spank me with them on and then eventually giving me a hard bare-bottomed spanking. He is known to kiss my backside sweetly after a spanking. He also likes seeing my reaction during a spanking.

The only difference? Ben wa balls. We don't own a set. Perhaps we should.

My doctor took my blood pressure. Luckily, reading Grey didn't affect my blood pressure. Instead, it made me feel aroused and happy.

Opening my 2011 time capsule and reflecting on my life then

I am on vacation till mid-week next week. It has been nice to sleep in and not deal with work-related issues.

I have been cleaning up around the house. I opened a box with tons of magazines and photos. It felt like I was opening a time capsule of sorts.

Most of the items in this box are from 2011. This particular year is significant for a number of reasons:
  • I went on a cruise in February and decided to change my eating habits, which led to my losing sixty pounds. I have kept it off ever since.
  • I injured my back in August, which required back surgery in late October.
  • My guy dropped hints that he liked me in September. We started dating in mid-October.
This box contained a few articles of clothing that are now way too big on me. I washed them last night and am ready to donate them.

I also found a number of magazines that I had subscribed to back then. Within recent years, I decided to cancel all my subscriptions, as they were a complete waste of paper. Many of these magazines were still in their own plastic wrap, in pristine condition.

It has been nice to read each issue. I have been reading a lot lately. I have missed reading for pleasure rather than for work.

Before my guy and I dated, he had visited India on a business trip and gave me a letter opener made of teak. It was also in this box.

On my cruise, I looked at a photo of me posing, barely on the ship for more than thirty minutes. I was at my heaviest weight. I looked happy in the photo, but I wasn't.

2011 was a whole bag of mixed emotions. It ended nicely, with a sweet guy who wanted to be with me at my worst state.

He has stuck by me ever since. I have supported him with challenges that were tossed at him. We make a good support couple, among other things.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's Thanksgiving in Canada!

I have plenty to be thankful for. Thanks for following along, whether for the first time today or for a while. It means a lot.

I still have a sore backside. It is obvious that my guy did a fine spanking job the other night. I am thankful that he loves me and that he enjoys spanking me.

Merry Christmas!

I'd like to wish you and yours a happy, joyous Christmas! Thanks for stopping by and reading my post. I appreciate it immensely.

Here's to more blog posts -- whether I am having a spanking-good time or just writing about whatever topic comes to mind.

All the best,

Surprise office visit from my guy

I won't be seeing my guy for the next couple of weeks. He ventures off to Seattle for a business trip.

I'd love to go to Seattle. I asked my guy to visit the following places while there:

  • The fish market, including catching a fish being tossed around
  • The flagship Starbucks store (Starbucks girl wants a photo)
  • Trader Joe's (not sure if there's one there, but I had indicated that I was low on dark chocolate edamame beans, and my guy immediately said that he'd get me some)
The last one wasn't really something I had asked him to do. I never got around to visiting a Trader Joe's in Las Vegas. My guy is sweet in insisting that he would replenish my supply.

Friday wasn't the best workday. Most of the writers on my team tend to go on walks during the lunch hour. They omitted me at first. When one of them asked me to accompany them one time, I politely turned them down. Apparently, that response meant that I am never to be included again.

I don't like being excluded like that. However, on a good note, I do read a lot of good e-books on my lunch hour these days. I can indeed squeeze in some quiet reading time for myself after all!

Anyway, my guy (MG) pinged me on our office instant messaging tool late Friday morning, from what seemed to be out of the blue.
MG: Hi.
Me: Hi.
MG: I will be in the office today. Did you want to have lunch at 13:30?
Me: Okay. I have to be back by 15:00 for a meeting.
MG: Sure. I'll text you when I arrive.
Me: Sounds good. Drive safely.
MG: Will do. See you soon!
My guy actually arrived just after 13:30. It was nice to see him. He waited for me in the visitor parking lot and drove us over to our usual Chinese restaurant.

He normally works from home, but he had to ask a software developer some questions in preparation for his trip, so he came into the office. He looked good.

A lunch date is always great with my guy. It was much better than reading my e-book on a Friday.

It's nearly June, which means that the Spanking A to Z challenge is coming!

May has blown by.

Work is crazy. I have one writer who has taken vacation. Unfortunately, I had to fill in for her while trying to complete some software release work.

On a good note, the weekend is finally here! And, so is this year's June Challenge: Spanking A to Z. It's my second year participating in it.

I hope that you'll read my posts next month, or any month, really! Come join in on the fun if you'd like a fun writing challenge.

I'm off to bed now to get some sleep and prepare for fun writing challenges to come!

Kobo Mini e-reader and books on spanking

It took me a while to get on the e-reader bandwagon. I resisted for a long time, mainly because I like reading physical books. I like the feel of the pages between my fingers. I even like the smell of books.

As a little girl, I enjoyed hanging out at libraries and reading. Whether I was happy or sad, being in a library and having access to stories, facts, and knowledge made me feel safe and content.

A few years ago, I decided to get my first e-reader. I have a white Kobo Mini. It's a little larger than my Blackberry Passport. I love it.

Of course, I can also read books using the Kobo app on my various devices, but I like my e-reader. When I read from it, I am not distracted by e-mails or games. I want to read. Period. I don't need to do that with a smartphone.

It has been a while since I used my e-reader. I am charging it as I type. I bought a book tonight and am enjoying the read so far.

The best part about e-books is that you can preview a chapter before you buy. Naturally, I have been checking out the spanking stories that are out there. I am reading through the preview chapter from Across My Knee. I'd like to be across my guy's knee right now. He is asleep, so this book will do for now.

R is for remote

My dad recently bought a new 55" television that is curved. I visited my parents the other day and noticed him fussing over it.

He was having difficulty setting it up. I asked him where the instruction manual was. My dad is a typical guy who would rather figure out how to hook up the TV without consulting instructions. He told me that he was "too busy to read them." Okay.

My dad handed me the television remote and asked me to figure out how to power on the TV. So, I did. It took me perhaps a couple of seconds, as the most.

My mom laughed so hard.

The good news is that we got the television set up and my parents are happy campers who can watch their favourite shows again on a larger screen.

March questions continue

The other day, I received a batch of fun questions from Han. Here are my answers:
Do you read a newspaper daily?
Sadly, I don't read the paper version of a newspaper daily. Instead, I tend to read the online version as often as I can, which is pretty close to being daily. Otherwise, I get my news either on the radio or at night when I have a chance to watch the evening news on TV.
Do you watch television a lot and what are your favourite programs?
Great segue! I don't watch as much television as I should. I find that I watch more TV when I am on vacation, mainly because I am often in another country and like watching local programs.
I probably watch television an average of fourteen hours a week. I tend to watch the news. I also like Live! with Kelly and Michael and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. I do enjoy watching hockey games and special sporting events, but I haven't been doing that much these days.
Are you interested in politics?
This question is a good one. My ex-hubby taught politics. I follow politics, but I am nowhere near being a passionate political junkie like he was. Coincidentally, my guy is interested in politics, but he doesn't ram it down my throat. He can spend a decent amount of time debating his views with others on Facebook and other sites. He has cut down on that these days.
As for me, I am a mathematical girl. So, when there is an election, I am far more interested in the poll results, statistical trends, and other tidbits that are math-related.
I don't have a specific party that I will lean towards supporting. Rather, I will look at what each candidate's platform is and decide which one I support.
If possible, do you vote for a male or a female, or is the gender irrelevant?
Gender is irrelevant to me when I vote for a candidate. It's more about what the candidate stands for and whether that person is fit to govern.
I am fortunate to live in Canada and be Canadian. We have had both male and female prime ministers. When I lived in Winnipeg, I had a gay mayor. Living in Ontario these days, I have a lesbian premier. As long as they do a decent job in standing up for what Canadians want and representing them, all is well.
Do you miss giving spankings as much as you like receiving them?
I do miss giving spankings. I still like giving my guy lovetaps here and there, but it's not the same. However, I don't miss them so much that I insist on spanking my guy hard.
I must admit that I love being spanked these days. My guy does it well and he has embraced spanking me. At first, I thought that he would think that I was weird for liking to be spanked. He likes that I get so turned on that he doesn't find it strange at all. I love that and him, of course.
Did you do other D/s activities we she should know about besides spankings?
Such a great question! My guy and I have explored light bondage. I like being lightly tied up. I enjoy having my hands secured while he spanks me now and again. If we don't have a silky scarf or some velvety rope, I get aroused when he holds my hand behind my back.
One time when we were on vacation, he gave me an eye mask. I tried it on. He tickled me and kissed me while I had the mask on. It was fun and enjoyable. I wouldn't mind giving the eye mask another try soon.
Thanks for the questions, Han!

If you have any questions that you'd like me to answer, feel free to leave them in the Comments section. Thanks!
