As a little girl, I enjoyed hanging out at libraries and reading. Whether I was happy or sad, being in a library and having access to stories, facts, and knowledge made me feel safe and content.
A few years ago, I decided to get my first e-reader. I have a white Kobo Mini. It's a little larger than my Blackberry Passport. I love it.
Of course, I can also read books using the Kobo app on my various devices, but I like my e-reader. When I read from it, I am not distracted by e-mails or games. I want to read. Period. I don't need to do that with a smartphone.
It has been a while since I used my e-reader. I am charging it as I type. I bought a book tonight and am enjoying the read so far.
The best part about e-books is that you can preview a chapter before you buy. Naturally, I have been checking out the spanking stories that are out there. I am reading through the preview chapter from Across My Knee. I'd like to be across my guy's knee right now. He is asleep, so this book will do for now.
I love my physical books also CB...there's something about them that you just don't get from an e-book. However, e-books are really nice when you're traveling in order to take a variety of books. I do appreciate being able to preview the first chapter before buying and I also enjoy all the free books that Amazon has available for downloading.
ReplyDeleteOne of the benefits of physical books over e-books is when you're flying and have to keep electronics turned off from the time the doors close until you reach altitude. You also don't have to worry about battery life if you're stuck in the airport and/or on the tarmac. ;)

That's true, Cat. With books, you don't have to worry about charging it. I do like the convenience of having an e-reader because it's lightweight and you can pack as many books on it as its memory card will allow.
DeleteI love E-books, girl with the naughty name. I think E-book readers are the best invention ever. No dead trees for me, I only buy electronic books for a while now. Buy them! Really.. I am using my second ereader now, the first one quit after 3 years.. I don't blame it, I used it often. You can also read in the sun with an ereader (and not on a tablet or Ipet).
ReplyDeleteBut hey! I'm a modern guy! LOL

I love my e-reader. It is a smaller version, but I like that you can download as many books as you want on it. It sure beats carrying a ton of books around!
DeleteI am considering getting a larger e-reader down the road, simply because I am a geeky girl. I am happy with my current reader. I just spent my time after work reading in the sun and loved it.
