Weekend, hotel, hockey, and travel

It has been a few days. I'm doing well. I have simply needed some down time to myself.

I am currently checked in at a hotel. I am taking a couple of days off next week for an extended weekend trip. It's snowing and windy. I'm heading to the Twin Cities tomorrow. It is my last trip for this hockey season. It's bittersweet.

I will likely get a pack of tickets for next season, simply because the winter classic game is happening in the Twin Cities. I'd like to attend and I get first dibs if I remain a season ticket holder. I also don't mind travelling back to the state that I once called home.

I left work early on a Friday. I rarely don't. However, my day started at 8 am. I left at 4:45 pm. It's still a bit late, but it's rare for me to get out of there before 5 pm. I felt great.

Enjoy your weekend!

Rough waters that are calmer now

My love interest and I have had a few rocky days. He is stressed out at work. We had our first major disagreement last Friday.

In a nutshell, he signed an employment contract where if he is contracting equipment and it is faulty, he needs to foot the bill to fix it. I found that odd. Why doesn't his employer help him out?

He basically needed $4500 to repair a crane, including labour. He didn't have that much money and didn't tell me about his problem it until I was his last resort.

I lost it. I like when people are open with me. He shouldn't have left things bottled up inside.

So, I told him off. I went one step further and said that it wouldn't work between us. He doesn't think straight when he is stressed out, which was another red flag. He wasn't the person that I thought I knew.

We both were upset with each other. We also realized that we are a good fit when we take a step back.

I told him that I felt disrespected. He wouldn't take no for an answer about my helping him financially. I like helping people out. I don't like the pressure. He realized that he was wrong.

I overreacted being dismissed in this whole ordeal. I took some time to think things through. He was under so much stress that I added more stress for him than was necessary. He is a decent person. He has just had a ton of bad breaks.

I thought of a better financial solution to help him out. I have been working on reducing my debt for a while now and did not budget to lend money out. I managed to juggle a few things around and can lend him money. Basically, he can't proceed with his construction work until he pays for the crane repairs. It also means that he doesn't get paid until he completes his construction work. It's a vicious circle.

Here's hoping that he negotiates a better employment contract for him and a better customer contract down the road. Lessons learned on so many fronts for both of us.

Bumps in the love journey and my portable humidifier

It has been an interesting few days. On the romantic side, we aren't doing great. I'll talk about that in an upcoming blog post. I am still sorting through some of the ridiculousness that has transpired.

I still have congestion. I will let my doctor know when I see her on Tuesday. The good news is that it's getting better, but it has been around for a week that I'm concerned. My teeth also feel achy, which is odd. I got over-the-counter sinus medicine at the drug store to help with my congestion. So far, it's working out fairly well.

On Thursday night, I got a portable humidifier. It works well. The downside is that the instructions come from China and they aren't complete. I have been figuring it out as I go. I do like it, as it also acts as a nightlight. It also has two mist modes. There's a continuous one and a pulsating version. Fun!

Bloodwork, snow, and humidifer

I had bloodwork done on Tuesday morning. I was contemplating whether to go, as snow had fallen overnight. It was heavy, wet snow. Luckily, it was fine driving in it, so I was good.

I go see my doctor next week. If my congestion is still there, I'll ask about how to get rid of it. It has been a week since I caught this nasty cold. The cold is gone, but the congestion won't leave. Ugh!

My humidifier is my best friend. It does wonders. I am contemplating getting a portable one for work.

Dating a worrywart

My new love interest is a worrywart. He was trying to secure his first contract with a customer. He got so stressed out that when we were chatting on Tuesday night, he said that he couldn't have dinner and needed time to think.

Wow. That's all I can say.

Meanwhile, I had a lapse in my cold on Tuesday. My congestion went through the roof. I told him on three separate times that I was taking an early evening. Thank goodness for my humidifier.

Did he take any of what I said into consideration? Nope. Stress does weird things to him.

He texted me at 1 am my time to say that he can't sleep. Really? I said that I'm not feeling well once again. He apologized. I proceeded to switch my phone to do not disturb. I'm so glad that I did. He texted me at 6:30 am and beyond. I was sleeping in till 8 am.

The good news is that he got the contract. His very first one. I was so proud of him.

I am also thrilled that I don't have to deal with his crazy, worried text messages. I, too, can sleep well tonight.

Late checkout, ending this long weekend

I did a late checkout at the hotel today. It's fun. I like leisurely taking my time to travel home.

I still sound congested. I can breathe a bit better, though. Small step are cool.

Am I getting better or worse from this nasty cold?

It's tough to figure out whether I am getting better. On a good note, my energy level seems to be back to normal.

The downside? I am still congested. Drinking hot tea or soup has been helpful. Taking a shower is my decongestant. I can't wait to get home and use my humidifier.

I do a late checkout this afternoon. It's nice.

Decongestant and noise

I went out first thing today to get cold medicine with decongestant. My local drug store opens at 9 am. I got there a few minutes early.

It'a amazing how well decongestant work. I also notice when it wears off. Ugh!

My staycation is going well. I am checked into the hotel. It got a bit noisy with families enjoying chatting in the hallway of my floor after I had checked in, in front of the elevator. Geez, that's convenient for me trying to roll my luggage past an audience. Luckily, I have earplugs.

Here's hoping that I can get some rest.

Sick day and rest

Yep, I have a cold. Sneezing. Runny nose. Congestion.

Why does one nostril clog up when you're congested? Weird. It has been my right nostril for most of the day.

I stayed home and called it a sick day. I slept for another three hours. I feel better, but I'm still not back to my normal self.

I'm doing a staycation with a cold. Oh, joy! We'll see how things go.

Getting a cold and getting paid early

I feel like I'm getting a cold. It's sucks. My throat is sore and I'm drinking lemony water to soothe it.

I get paid every other Thursday. What I love about my bank is that it deposits my pay on Wednesday night, just after 10 pm. It gives me time to pay my bills at home, rather than waiting to get home on Thursday night to do it.

Little things make me content.

Short breaks from blogging, but all is well

My Mac mini is shot. Luckily, I have my MacBook Air to fall back on. It is one reason why I have been taking mini breaks between posts.

The main reason is being tired. I was exhausted yesterday that I didn't bother.

All is well, though. I'm getting ready for the long weekend ahead. I'm doing a staycation.

Weird text conversation

I sometimes wonder about my new love interest. He says things that kind of make me wonder why.

Here's an example in the form of texts:
"Babe, what are we going to talk about?" he texted.
"What an odd question," I texted back.
"Yeah, I think so. I'm going to bed early," he wrote.
"Okay, what time were you thinking of turning in?" I asked.
"Soon. I don't have a time yet," he wrote.
Okay, perhaps he's not a natural conversationalist, but it's not like we have a set agenda when we start a conversation. You take a topic and you run with it. Yesterday, I found out that it was national pizza day and I didn't know. I ended up getting a pizza before knowing about this tidbit. So, we talked about it.

The other thing is that if you typically want to go to bed early, you have some idea as to when you want to go to bed. It was weird that he finally said soon. Twenty minutes later, we said goodnight.

Weird. Maybe it'll make sense to me later. Right now, it just seems odd all around.

Friends and food

I went out this evening to meet up with a friend visiting for the weekend. It became a group dinner with a bunch of foodies.

I had a wonderful time catching up with everyone and eating some  good eats. It was held at a food hall with multiple vendors. It's a beautiful concept. I want to go back.

Love and thoughts

My loving guy is sick. He took it easy all day yesterday.

I normally have nicknames for folks. I don't have one for him. He's sweet and fit. It's weird to me that I landed a shredded guy. Then, there's me... lol

Our relationship is going well. We are still learning about each other daily.

I was thinking on the plane recently that I was still brokenhearted last month travelling back home. A few days ago, the heartache has dissipated and there's room for new love again. It was so unexpected, but it's working out so far.

Back from a blogging break

I have taken a couple of days off from blogging. It has been refreshingly nice.

Monday was my travel day back home. I was pretty tired that I decided to take a break from blogging. All is well! It's nice to be back.

My Mac mini is still acting up. I have a feeling that my photos on its hard drive is taking too much space. I will need to work on moving them to an external drive. Otherwise, I am eyeing a new Mac mini either this year or next. It's a decade old.

Today, I worked from home. There was some snow and I decided to avoid driving in it. I'm glad that I did.

Sleepy, Superbowl, and socks

This trip has been super short. I took it easy on Sunday for a few reasons.

I still have muscle pain in my right foot due to my pinched nerve years ago. It acted up at around 6 am and I couldn't go back to sleep. Luckily, I went to the drug store a few hours later to get some potassium supplements. My muscle pain gradually went away.

I went to see my friend and had a lovely time catching up with her over lunch. She gifted me two pairs of socks that I love.

Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs for winning the Superbowl this year. I wanted this team to mount a comeback and it did! I was texting with the new boy in my life about the game. It was nice. It felt normal and comfortable. Things continue to go well there.

I am nearly packed. I fly out later on today. I will need to extend my trip next time I'm here. Two days go by so quickly, especially when I'm a zombie. Late yesterday afternoon, I came back to the hotel and crashed. The nap was needed.

Travel, comfort, and change

I made it safely to the Twin Cities. It has been a long day, but I am happy and still alert!

I like Eagan, a suburb of what seems to be St. Paul. I have found a hotel that I like. It feels comfortable, modern, and cozy.

Perhaps that's one reason why I am still up at this hour. I feel like I'm at home, writing in my blog. I just happen to be in a different city, country, and environment.

Change isn't all that bad. Then again, it doesn't feel like a whole lot of change at all.

Longer weekend and starting it off by falling asleep

I'm checked in to a hotel room by work, which is close to the airport. I am flying out in the early afternoon.

I am looking forward to this longer weekend, although it will feel short.

I was so tired this evening that I crashed just before 9 pm. I woke up before midnight to shower. I'm now wide awake.

Here's hoping that I turn in within in the next hour or so. Enjoy your weekend, everyone!
