Quiet day thanks to snow

It snowed for most of the day on Tuesday. I went out briefly before lunch to fetch some food and buy a few items when the snow took a brief break. As I drove back to the hotel, it started to snow again.

It was nice spending some quiet time in my room. I watched a lot of TV, took a nap, ate and drank, and had me time.

I love being on vacation. It's getting cold here, so staying indoors isn't a bad thing.

It's snowing post-Christmas

We didn't get snow on Christmas. Instead, the snow came late on Boxing Day. It's snowing overnight.

I'm not sure whether I'll be going out in the morning later on today. I kind of like that housekeeping doesn't come once a day during this pandemic. It means that I can stay in my room later, watch TV, eat breakfast at a leisurely pace, write, and relax.

My first week of vacation has flown by. I love waking up without an alarm clock going off. I still get up relatively early at around 8 am. I feel that it's the excitement of exploring the Twin Cities that makes me so enthusiastic to wake up early and get on with my day.

Muhammad Ali as a category on Jeopardy! and my dad's boxing idol

I watched my parents watch Jeopardy! on TV the other night. One of the categories was Muhammad Ali.

I had forgotten how much my dad loved him as a boxer. My dad got every single answer in the form of a question correct. It was nice seeing him run the board in the category.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

US election and the need for process improvement

The US election. I like watching election results because I'm a numbers person.

After all these years, I don't fully comprehend the electoral system. I find that the entire voting process drags on and could be scaled down to be more efficient.

That's just me, though. I look at inefficiencies with whatever I see and do. I do that at work, and make suggestions and proposals to make things better.

Luckily, I'm not tasked with making the US voting process simpler and easier. I applaud the record turnout. However, it seems ridiculous to spend eight hours lining up at a polling station to cast your important vote.

Anyway, I am still watching the election programming. I like that I can watch Global TV on Amazon Prime. It's cool and convenient.

Regis Philbin

I learned yesterday evening that Regis Philbin had passed away. He was 88 years old, roughly a month shy of being 89 years of age.

May he rest in peace.

I grew up watching Regis on Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee. I must have been in either grade 10 or 11. I loved them. It was to the point where I recorded their one-hour morning show on my VCR and watched it after school.

I watched the show when Kathie Lee left and it was Live! with Regis for a bit. Then, it became Live! with Regis and Kelly. I also watched him on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire while I lived in the States. It was great. Is that your final answer? Yes!

I continued to watch it until Regis retired. It was nice seeing him occasionally on Rachael Ray's show as a guest.

Regis was a wonderful storyteller. I loved his sense of humour. He was the best.

Snowy Saturday to come

It's the weekend! In a few hours, my area will be hit with yet another winter storm.

Roughly 15 cm of snow is expected to fall throughout the day. I will be hibernating. I'll be doing a bit of writing, watching some TV, cooking, and chilling.

Happy weekend, everyone!

Staycation, takeout, and sleeping in

This weekend, I am doing a bit of a staycation. It's nice that I have been grabbing takeout for dinner and having it back at my hotel room.

I enjoy watching TV while eating dinner. I typically don't have that luxury these days. Work has been busy as of late. It's nice that I can unwind.

I'm thankful that the weekend is here. I was sleeping so soundly last night that getting up was tough.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

Spoke too soon and had another horrible night of sleep

I have figured out why I haven't slept well recently. I consumed strawberry black tea just before I had muscle spasm issues in my right foot and ended up having a couple of sleepless nights this week.

On Thursday night, I went out to redeem a couple of coupons for a free movie and popcorn at the local movie theatre. On my way home, I stopped by my favourite bubble tea store to get a strawberry black tea.

My guess is that the black tea had so much caffeine that it kept me up longer than it typically does. I normally am okay consuming it before 11 pm. However, for the past couple of nights, I finished the drink well past midnight.

I got through my day on Friday pretty sleepy. I went out for dinner with a couple of friends, came home, and slept for an hour in front of the TV. Ah, good times!

TV remote and memories of movie-watching

One of the many fond memories from time spent with my guy the other week was watching movies in bed. Instinctually, he would head over to the microwave oven and pop popcorn for us. We both love popcorn.

He watches more movies than I do. He doesn't mind watching movies that he loves again and again. Neither do I.

At one point, he wanted me to have the TV remote. He put it on my tummy. I was propped up against a pillow and was lying at an angle. The remote slid down my tummy to my crotch.
"Hey, I'm you, sweetie," I said, picking the remote up and having it stand erect from my crotch.
"You're funny," he said.
It's a fun memory to have.

Olympics are over, but the Paralympics begin soon

The Olympics are officially over. I am proud of how the Canadian athletes performed.

I am now going through withdrawal symptoms. I am pleased that the Paralympics are next. However, I wish that there was more television exposure.

This weekend, I have been dealing with toe spasms in my right foot. I have foot spasms now and again, thanks to nerve damage from a pinched nerve years ago. It was pretty bad on Saturday. It lasted practically all day and was extremely painful at times.

I have a feeling that it was a combination of feeling cramped at a restaurant on Friday at lunch and a lack of potassium in my system caused this pain. I hydrated a ton of Saturday, ate a banana, popped Ibuprofen, and decided to take it easy. My toes are doing much better today.

I'm thankful and relieved.

Rock of Ages - spanking scene

It's Sunday afternoon. I rarely turn on the TV at this hour, but I decided to have a quiet afternoon of lounging at home.

I flipped channels. Rock of Ages, the movie version of the musical, was on. I decided to watch it.

I like musicals. I already knew after the first ten minutes that it wasn't a good flick. However, I watched it like a train wreck.

What shocked me was a spanking scene. While the mayor's wife is belting out "Hit me with your best shot" with fellow Church worshippers, her husband is getting spanked with a ruler by his mistress.

If the spanking scene were more convincing, I would perhaps like it. I'm just here to share this surprising tidbit with you and to tell you not to bother watching this flick!

Kissing the hand of your loved one

I didn't watch the entire inauguration ceremony of Friday. I was at work, but was likely driving over to a restaurant for lunch. It is now a team event to go every Friday to a restaurant.

My manager created a list of restaurants close by work. He then used a random generator to decide which restaurant appears on the list each week of this year. Yes, it sounds like he has way too much time on his hands. I'm glad he is a foodie, though. I like the idea of bonding with your colleagues. At least we all tend to get along.

Anyway, there was a clip where Melania Trump walked down a set of steps, escorted by a soldier, to stand next to her husband. They locked eyes and smiled at each other.

Immediately after that, Michelle Obama was escorted by another soldier down a set of stairs to stand next to her husband, Barak Obama. He reached over to hold her hand and kiss it. Michelle squeezed the hand of the soldier and thanked him.

I like public affection. The former President's gesture of kissing his wife's hand reminds me of my guy doing the same to me. He does it often. I have always loved when he does that. Sometimes, he'll kiss both my hands.

I miss my guy. He is on his way home.

Relating to folks and missing my guy

I seem to be able to relate to others well. Age isn't a barrier.

With my manager, who is roughly fifteen years older than I am, we get along well. He tried to reference the tagline at the end of old Batman TV episodes. I had to correct him. Same bat time. Same bat channel.

As a child, I watched quite a bit of TV. I remember old commercials and shows. I mainly watched Sesame Street and game shows.

I can also relate to popular songs from the 60's and 70's, mainly because I grew up listening to all music that my mom and dad loved.

Then, there are my two co-op students who are nearly twenty years old. I am perfectly fine with talking about university, music, musicals, and movies with them. I fit in. I never feel out of place.

I am fortunate enough to get along with practically most people. I can't explain why, but I am glad that I do and can.

My guy has been away for nearly two weeks. I miss him, but he's coming home soon. It seems like an eternity.

Hockey teaches us to aim high and go in

On Tuesday night, after shovelling roughly 15 cm of snow from my driveway, I decided to unwind by watching hockey on TV.

When I switched cell phone providers a few months ago, I ended up getting NHL GameCentre Live for free. In the past, I used to subscribe to it. I then started cutting down on various expenses, which resulted in terminating this subscription. I must admit that it has been wonderful watching a ton of hockey games at home.

Anyway, I was watching the Columbus Blue Jackets game against the Carolina Hurricanes. It was a pretty fast-paced, high-scoring game.

I then heard the following remark from one of the commentators when a player had missed scoring a goal:
"As the old saying goes, aim high, go in."
Immediately, my mind went into the gutter.

I told my guy about this comment. He simply agreed. I could only picture him grinning with his cell phone glued to his ear. After all, we think alike, especially from the same gutter.

Watching funny shows late at night, sleeping in, and being accepting

When you have been with someone for a while, it's nice when you just know that person so well that you don't have to explain why you do what you do.

My guy called me on Saturday in the afternoon. We were both driving. I was driving over to a new burger joint just east of where I live, where it serves various game meat (I went with a bison burger). I knew that my guy was driving off to teach his course.
"I stayed up until 02:30 this morning," I told my guy. "I woke up at 10:30."
"Wow, that's late for you. Were you up watching a show?" he asked me.
"Yes, I was catching up on past episodes of Saturday Night Live," I replied.
"Nice. I was up watching old episodes of Marries with Children. I woke up at 11:00 am," he replied.
We are similar, although we are who we are. It's nice that we enjoy comedy shows, staying up late, and sleeping in on weekends.

Cutting the cable cord and streaming content on TV

For a while, I have been leaning towards getting rid of my cable service and streaming shows that I want to see online. It took a while doing research to see what type of television streaming device that I should get.

It has been at least half a year since I watched any cable programming at home. I only watched TV in my hotel room when I was on the road.

I own a lot of Apple products, simply because they are reliable and work. Although its products are user-friendly, they are restrictive. I need software that allows me to install all sorts of cable applications as if I had all cable channels.

I decided that I wanted an Android TV box and did more research. The problem is buying one. Either I'd have to go on Kijiji and find someone who is selling such a device, or find a store that sells one, which isn't as convenient as going to any Best Buy store.

On Friday night, I was looking at flyers and found the Android TV device that I wanted from a store that I frequent once a month. On Saturday, I went in and bought the device, which was on sale.

I asked the guy at the store what the box's performance was like. When streaming programs, were they choppy? He replied that the store has been using this same model for nearly a year. He pointed to the TV a few steps away that was streaming content. I was impressed. I had no idea that all that content was being streamed all day.

Tonight, I installed my new TV device (it's pretty straightforward) and downloaded add-ons for the channels that I wanted. I have been happy watching programs that I haven't seen in ages. It's all free. The quality is excellent in high definition. So far, so great!

I'm still learning, but I am enjoying this new device. I am indeed geeky gadget girl.

My guy likes that I have such an interest for technology. He's relieved that he doesn't have to go through this exercise because he has admitted that he dislikes technology. It's funny considering that he works in a high-tech job. He tends to let me help him understand how such things work when it's time for him to go through the same thing. He's funny that way.

S is for snuggling, sleeping, spooning, and spanking

Four of my favourite intimate activities with my guy that begin with the letter s are the following:
  • Snuggling
  • Sleeping
  • Spooning
  • Spanking
My guy says that I am affectionate. It takes two to make it work.

I love snuggling up to him. He could be watching TV or reading in bed, and I instantly want to snuggle up to him. The best part is that he likes when we snuggle.

Sleeping is fun with my guy. He's boyish in that he likes to sleep with a pillow over his head. He also likes hogging the sheets. We have fixed that arrangement with separate blankets for each of us.

My guy snores when he is tired, but it only lasts within the first thirty minutes that he falls asleep. I am similar in that I snore when I am tired. My guy doesn't notice, for he has that pillow over his sweet head.

Spooning is wonderful with my guy. He likes to be the outer spoon. His eventual hard member ends up pressed against my butt. One thing leads to another and we can't keep our hands off each other.

Spooning for us practically leads to my getting a spanking. My sore bottom then leads to both of us having a wonderful time in bed.

The s-cycle then goes back to snuggling and sleeping. It's perfect.

R is for remote

My dad recently bought a new 55" television that is curved. I visited my parents the other day and noticed him fussing over it.

He was having difficulty setting it up. I asked him where the instruction manual was. My dad is a typical guy who would rather figure out how to hook up the TV without consulting instructions. He told me that he was "too busy to read them." Okay.

My dad handed me the television remote and asked me to figure out how to power on the TV. So, I did. It took me perhaps a couple of seconds, as the most.

My mom laughed so hard.

The good news is that we got the television set up and my parents are happy campers who can watch their favourite shows again on a larger screen.

Playful spanking on Dancing with the Stars

Now and again, I will watch parts of Dancing with the Stars. There are some celebrities that I enjoy watching. In the past, it was Erin Andrews and Candace Cameron Bure. They both did pretty well considering that they don't have dancing backgrounds.

Alfonso Ribeiro is an exception. I watched him play Carlton on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air as a teenager. He does have a dancing background, which can be perceived as an advantage over the majority of the celebrities on this show.

I was pleasantly surprised when I heard that Carrie Ann Inaba decided to playfully spank Alfonso for doing a good job after his dance:
Although where she was lightly slapping his backside is higher that it should be, it was cute. I am not sure whether the viewers enjoyed that or were freaked out.

Of course, the spanking would have been better with his pants and briefs pulled down, but it is a prime time show. =)

Lunch and breaking on Civic Holiday at the office

Monday was Civic Holiday. I went to work to visit my guy. He had to work and had a whopping eleven people in his seminar.

Being his usual sweet self, he wrote me an e-mail, saying that one of the folks had a car, that there were ten people, and that I could skip lunch. Instead, he insisted that I see him after work.

However, an hour later, he wrote back and said that another person had joined, so he needed my transportation services. I was going to drive to work anyway, so it wasn't a huge issue.

I dropped by the training room and my guy was beaming. He introduced me and said that he was nearly wrapping up.

It takes a bit of coordination to transfer a baker's dozen of people to a restaurant. We did it. They were nice to chat with for the hour or so. The restaurant that my guy and I frequent were happy to see us. I joked to one of the nice staff there that we had brought them business on a holiday. They like the fact that we love being there and eating their yummy food dishes.

My guy was kind to pay for lunch. He does it all the time and I appreciate it. We sat down and talked as the rest of the people were paying for their lunch that they were going to expense.

I told my guy that I would hang out at my cubicle. We are moving to a new office in a few weeks, so I thought that doing a bit of packing would be good. I don't exactly have much to pack, but I do have a lot of tea at work. It would be best to bring most of my stash home.

I decided to watch some Web episodes of Live! with Kelly and Michael on my laptop. I heard the door open. I knew that it was my guy, for we were the only ones in the building who had access to the top floor.
"Hey, there!" he said to me, standing at my cubicle.
"Hey! Let me pause my show. I'm watching TV," I explained.
"It is a holiday. You can certainly do that," he said, approving my TV-watching at work, which I don't normally do.
"It's nice to see you. Are you taking a break?" I asked him.
"Yes," he replied. "I thought that I'd come up and see how good you look to me."
"You're so sweet."
"I can't wait till after work," he said, looking straight at my face, chest, and further down.
"Me, too."
"Let's try the conference room on the seventh floor," he said.
"That would be wonderful," I said.
We blew each other kisses. Unfortunately, my cubicle is by the security camera. I was sitting down, so I could discretely blow him a kiss. I then stood up and my guy walked away. He did turn around when he was just under the camera and blew me a kiss in return.

There are guys in Texas who monitor the footage from those cameras. It wouldn't be right to put on an affection show for them. That show is strictly for us.
