Work anniversary and spaghetti

Yesterday was my work anniversary. I have been with my employer for twelve years.

My manager acknowledged it, and thanked me for supporting and leading our team. It was nice. I essentially got a $100 e-certificate, which I spent at Amazon.

I fell asleep an hour ago. I dreamt of spaghetti. I wonder what it means.

A manager to can't control his team working from home and great colleagues who care

As expected, my manager, a control freak, cannot handle his entire team working from home. He feels the need to write long-winded e-mails to everyone on everything. He can't keep an eye on anyone, so this method of madness is his way of coping. Odd.

He ended up sending me a multitude of e-mails. I know that I have tasks to do. Micromanaging me by copying and pasting what he had already written to me last week isn't going to make me work faster. I need responses from others around the world. Give me a break! Maybe trust me.

Anyway, I decided to say thanks to three colleagues on Monday by recognizing them in our internal tool. Two of them took my belongings off my desk and stowed them safely away so that staff could sanitize my desk. It was thoughtful of them. I also recognized my project manager, thanking her for supporting me when my manager interrogated me last week before abruptly banning me from the office. Her compassion and support were most appreciated.

It's nice that I have support when I need it the most.

Missing detail from my previous post

Just a follow-up post.

I appreciate the comments that have come in. I do need to mention a detail that makes sense to those who have been following along for a while.

My ex-guy and I work for the same company. That's how we met -- at work.

He sent me his e-mail using his work account to my work account. Simply blocking him can be done, but it's unprofessional. Our departments work together now and again.

The consensus is to ignore his e-mail. It reinforces what I have been doing for months, which is reassuring.

Thanks to all who provided helpful, meaningful feedback.

Wrapping up my leadership program and being thankful

On Monday, I wrapped up my final installment of my leadership program. It has been a great learning experience.

I love to learn. It was fun participating, which I wouldn't have said when I was an undergraduate student, as I didn't enjoy speaking in front of folks. It helps to contribute, as I ended up getting off the hook when it came down to doing some of the exercises. Yay!

I spent some time writing an e-mail to my instructor, saying thanks for being supportive, encouraging, and insightful. Most people don't think of taking a moment to thank someone, but I feel obligated to. I am sad that these sessions have ended, but feel empowered with knowledge and tools to make me a better leader.

My manager will be attending this course early next month. It will be interesting to see whether any of these techniques resonate with him.

Saying thanks does the world good

I am in a thankful mood these days. I tend to say thanks all the time to those who have helped me along the way. However, I get to do more these days.

At work, we have a program where we can write something nice to someone, to recognize their accomplishments. For the longest time, I have seen our office coordinator do a bunch of tasks, such as helping me out when I have new employees or students joining my team, bringing in snacks and munchies to life everyone's spirits, and just being who she is. She does so much and rarely gets the recognition that she truly deserves.

I often say thanks to her in person or in e-mails. I decided to write something nice in our accomplishments application.

She told me that I made her day with my kind words. Mission accomplished.

Love our lurkers (LOL) day 2 - the results

I hope that you had a wonderful Love Our Lurkers (LOL) day yesterday. I had a lot of fun checking out blogs that I visit regularly, and discovering brand new ones to add to my blogroll.

My goal was to have enough comments to get the number of smacks across my backside in the double digits. Thanks to everyone, both lurkers and non-lurkers, for leaving comments.

Fifteen fine folks left comments. The number of smacks that I will endure on my bare bottom will be thirty. I am more than thrilled!

I have votes for a leather implement, a ruler, and a hairbrush to be used on me. I still need to hammer out those details. Part of me wants all three implements used on me. I will need to discuss my strategy with my guy.

My guy likes the fact that I have a high pain threshold. Naturally, I am aiming for the following:
  • Thirty smacks with the wooden hairbrush
  • Thirty slaps with my purple acrylic ruler
  • Thirty whacks with a leather paddle
I am adventurous. Yep, I'd be getting a grand total of ninety smacks. It just depends on how energetic and enthusiastic my guy will be.

As always, I will keep you posted. Thanks for making my LOL day so memorable and fun!

Merry Christmas

I would like to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas!

By nature, I am a reflective person. I am particularly reflective during this holiday season.

Thanks to everyone for your support and encouragement over the years. Life is quite the road trip. You keep going, but you don't know what is going to really happen. You stop and go. You meet people and forge dialog. Friendships and relationships develop. It's all good.

I am grateful to have you tag along with my life adventures. I am grateful for your support and your kind words.

I am also fortunate to have my guy in my life. I recall when I first told him that I liked to be spanked. He has never backed down from a new challenge, but he did tell me back then that he had never spanked anyone before. The other day, he told me that he has grown to love spanking me -- that there's a nice rhythm involved. It's amazing how our relationship has bloomed over the past year, both emotionally and physically. We are closer than ever and I can only hope that it continues.

Here's hoping that you spend Christmas with your loved ones and have a great one!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you and yours this holiday season.

Although I have had the challenge of dealing with a herniated disk and back surgery, it hasn't been a bad year. I managed to meet my guy. He wasn't into spanking until he met a brat like me. He likes it. I like getting spanked often, too. It gives me the opportunity to continue writing about my spanking experiences.

Thanks for visiting my blog, and for checking in from time to time. It means a lot to me.
