Weekend thoughts and humidity

Weekends come and go so quickly.

I spent Sunday writing, cooking, and relaxing. It was nice.

The only downside is that I feel like I am overheating at home. With two fans on, it's humid on the top floor of my home. Absolutely no breeze came in when I opened all windows.

Ugh.

Here's hoping that I can sleep better tonight.

Good weekend and packing

It has been a great weekend. I saw two friends on Saturday and went out on Sunday to fetch a few things.

I'm starting to pack for my trip. I leave on Friday. This week is rather busy, especially with a concert on Thursday night.

It'll be nice to relax a bit once I'm over the border.

Sunday thoughts and snow tires

I spent Sunday cooking and relaxing. I savour weekends a lot these days.

Later on today, I get my snow tires installed on my car. It's currently snowing lightly. Perfect timing!

Popcorn

On Sunday, I went out to pick up a dessert order. I rarely go out on Sundays, so it felt weird.

I managed to drop by a popcorn store that I haven't visited in over a decade. I was so happy that it's still up and running.

I love popcorn. I bought three large bags. There was a special where you buy two bags and get your third for free.

My popcorn stash should last me another week.

Cooking, baking, and the long weekend ahead

I spent Sunday cooking and baking. I made cornbread muffins, and brussels sprouts with maple syrup and parmesan.

It's the last workweek before Labour Day weekend. I don't have any travel plans, but hope to get together with a friend and pick up a couple of orders.

Here's to a good week ahead!

Installing my new licence plate sticker

On Friday, I received my licence plate sticker in the mail. Mine has been expired for a year, but it's considered valid during the pandemic. I finally decided to renew it online.

I didn't do it last year because a colleague of mine had ordered it online in June 2020 and received it in the mail a few months later. I got mine within a week, so things have definitely improved.

On Sunday, I installed the sticker on my car's licence plate. I had to unscrew the protective plastic cover on top of the licence plate, remove the outdated sticker, place the new one on, clean the licence plate, and then screw it and the protective cover back on my car. It was nice, relaxing work for a Sunday.

I'm now waiting for my driver's licence to come in the mail. It will make me feel better to flash a piece of ID that isn't expired, although it is also valid during the pandemic.

Pre-birthday outings and cookies

My friend took me out for a pre-birthday meal on Sunday. It was terrific. I rarely go out on Sundays. It was nice seeing civilization on a patio and catch up with my friend.

I have consumed more booze this month than all of last year. It's amazing what great weather and patios being available will do.

I am enjoying my vacation so far. I went out to get free cookies and a watermelon Italian soda that I got as a perk. Tomorrow, I have more free cookies that are a birthday perk. Yay!

A productive Sunday

I had a productive Sunday. I tend to cook in the morning. I made a batch of French toast to enjoy throughout the week. The bread has no sugar, which is great.

I also made mini turkey quiches. I'm still using up my leftover turkey, and added spinach and cheese to the egg mixture. They turned out better than I had expected.

My dad needed me to help book a doctor's appointment for him. Everything is done online and he isn't there. He's booked for a phone appointment later on today.

I also finished filing tax returns for my parents. He gave me all tax receipts on Easter Monday and wondered why I hadn't done them on Thursday. I have to work. I do my best tax work on the weekend when I'm not pressured. It was odd. Our tax deadline is always at the end of April, so I didn't understand why he felt like rushing things.

Sadly, the weekend is over. Here's to a new workweek!

Wrapping up the weekend with businesses reopening

My weekend is practically over.

I went out on Sunday to pick up an order. I do like curbside pickup. I have been out on Sundays more often. It's nice.

Today marks the first day that businesses reopen in my area. It doesn't exactly make me want to dine out or hit a mall. It's a small sign of hope during this long pandemic, which is nice.

Have a great week ahead!

Out and about on Sunday

I went out on Sunday. It's rare for me to venture out on Sundays. However, I have done it twice within the past month.

I don't mind going out on Sundays. I find it more relaxed than Saturdays. I am a homebody, though. Going out on Saturday and Sunday feels like overkill!

It was nice getting some takeout for lunch. I found a decent Hakka restaurant on my way home from fetching an order for curbside pickup.

It's a shorter week for me. I have decided to take this Friday off for Lunar New Year. I rarely take this day off from work. Monday is a holiday, so I get an extra long weekend. Yay!

Snow, errands, and recipes

It's snowing. I was hoping to run an errand later on today, but I think that I'll just stay at home and try on Sunday instead.

This business has curbside pickup from Wednesday through Friday, and Sunday. I am typically running errands on Saturday. So, I have either Friday or Sunday to drop by the store and pick up a couple of orders.

It used to be open on Saturdays. However, with this second pandemic lockdown, it has revised its hours.

At least I get to stay home all warm and cozy. I am currently going through a new cookbook, dreaming about which recipe to try first.

Going out on a Sunday - rare!

I went out on Sunday. I can't tell you when I was last out on any Sunday. It has been that long and is a rare occurrence.

The main reason for my venturing out was to pick up an order that I had paid for on New Year's Eve. The business took the first week of January off. It returned the following week for curbside pickup on Wednesday only. It then went back to its regular pickup hours on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.

I couldn't do the weekdays because I was training my intern. Hours are from 11 am till 4 pm. I normally am out and about running errands on Saturday. So, Sunday, it was!

Although it was a cloudy day, it was nice getting out and walking around. I also like the fact that I am on vacation and feel relaxed.

Saturday, Sunday, and self-spanking Saturdays?

I had a nice Saturday. I slept in a bit. I visited a couple of new businesses during the day. It was relaxing and enjoyable.

My area has re-entered stage 2. It means that dining in at restaurants is shut down again. Movie theatres and gyms are closed again. However, takeout and patio dining are still okay. It's important to support local businesses, especially during this pandemic.

Although I didn't get around to my self-spanking yesterday, I am thinking that I should dub Saturdays as self-spanking Saturdays and see if that motivates me more. I don't that it'll happen weekly, but you never know.

Later on today, I'm cooking up a storm. I love Sunday cooking.

Taking it easy and cooking this weekend

It has been a relaxing weekend. I went out to fetch groceries and run errands yesterday, which I enjoyed. Today, I have been lounging around. I made breakfast and lunch, which I like doing on an easy Sunday.

I made banana bread french toast this morning. It turned out nicely. It was my first time making it.

I overdid buying dessert yesterday. I have Japanese-style cheesecake and cheese tarts, and banana bread. I'm glad that I thought about making banana bread french toast. It would be more difficult doing it with cheesecake!

Lazy Sunday mornings and workouts

I like lazy Sunday mornings. I slept in till 10:40 am. I made corned beef hash, sauteed mushrooms, and an omelette with corned beef hash inside. Good eats.

For the last two weeks at least, I have been working out again. I alternate between cardio, weights, and pushups.

I am still not at cardio levels that I used to be at. I exercise for 15 minutes on a glider these days. I used to easily hit 35 minutes.

Baby steps.

What I didn't do back then was pushups. I can easily do twenty now. Two weeks ago, five of them was a challenge to do.

It's a good thing that I have exercise equipment to keep me going these days. I feel good.

Painting my nails with colour and throwing away empty product boxes

My Sunday was quiet. I finally got around to painting my nails a nice berry colour.

Ever since I have been working from home every day, I decided to go with a clear shellac on my nails. I dropped changing up my colour for almost two months. It was nice giving my nails a breather.

I missed having a pop of colour on my nails, so I went for it. It's nice.

My decluttering activity continues. I have kept many boxes that used to contain products. I suppose I saved them in case I wanted to sell them down the road. The thing is that I have kept and continue to use these products. I don't have any inclination to sell them.

It has been interesting figuring out why I have kept so many items. I feel so differently years later about them.

Enjoyable Sunday

On Sunday, I had a good day.

I gave myself a manicure and pedicure. Last week, I got rid of my old base coat. On Sunday, I got rid of my old top coat. My polish looks a lot better on my nails with new base and top coats.

I also wrote a lot. I find it therapeutic.

Sundays are enjoyable for me these days. I took a nap. I made myself breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I didn't go out. It was nice.

I now need to get through the week to look forward to the long weekend ahead.

Back home

I drove back home on Sunday. It has been a long, but good day.

I finished unpacking most of my stuff and did a couple of loads of laundry. It's an accomplishment.

In less than a week, I do a similar road trip out east, except that it's for work.

Tripping with my guy

My guy called me from the gym. I like when he talks to me on the treadmill. I made his workout easier, as I started our chat by doing a lot of talking. He likes listening to my funny stories.

We then talked about his upcoming trip.
"Did you get your vacation request?" he asked me.
"Yes, I did. Is your trip confirmed?" I asked him.
"Yes, it was on Friday. I'l book our plane tickets," he said.
"Yay!" I exclaimed, which made him laugh.
It's nice that we will be spending a week together. We both can't wait.

Rock of Ages - spanking scene

It's Sunday afternoon. I rarely turn on the TV at this hour, but I decided to have a quiet afternoon of lounging at home.

I flipped channels. Rock of Ages, the movie version of the musical, was on. I decided to watch it.

I like musicals. I already knew after the first ten minutes that it wasn't a good flick. However, I watched it like a train wreck.

What shocked me was a spanking scene. While the mayor's wife is belting out "Hit me with your best shot" with fellow Church worshippers, her husband is getting spanked with a ruler by his mistress.

If the spanking scene were more convincing, I would perhaps like it. I'm just here to share this surprising tidbit with you and to tell you not to bother watching this flick!
