Weekend thoughts about cooking

Just like that, the weekend is over.

On Sunday, I made beef burger soup and meatballs with sauce. They both turned out well. I'm happy that I have leftovers that should last for most of this week.

I find cooking enjoyable on Sundays. It's simply sad that weekends tend to be shorter than we'd all like!

Lunar new year is next week. I placed an order for some snacks. I get to pick them up this Friday. Yay!

Half the day off to break

Yesterday, I decided to take half the day off. I was tired and felt like I needed a break. I'm glad that I did.

I slept. I felt much better afterwards.

The good thing about a shorter workweek is that it's over faster. The downside is that folks seem to feel the need to cram more work into the week. Weird!

I managed to book my second trip to the States. I leave in late November and return in early December. I then go back just before Christmas and stay there for three weeks. Yay!

Shorter workweek and travel plans

It's a short workweek. I thought that yesterday was Monday, so I'm already messed up!

I am planning to travel at the end of November. I am contemplating making it a work-from-across-the-border trip. I'll take a couple of days off to be a tourist and I'll also have the weekend to continue exploring. It'll be a decent mix as I ease into travel, but not going crazy like I used to.

I see more of my friends travelling these days. I feel more comfortable planning travel myself.

Long weekend catching up with friends

This long weekend has been great. I met up with three different friends on three different days. I spent Labour Day at home, resting!

It was great catching up with them. I hadn't seen one of my friends for two years. It was long overdue. It was like no time had elapsed when we chatted.

Thank goodness it's a shorter workweek.

Cooking and the ex

The weekend has come and gone. Why are they so short?!

I spent my Sunday cooking and relaxing. I pan-fried pepperoni. I haven't done that before. It tastes so good. I added it to cheesy angel hair pasta that low in carbs. Yum!

The ex wrote to me. He wants to meet and grab a bite to eat. I am not feeling it.

Weekend and cooking

I feel like I need another weekend. This one blew by too quickly.

I tend to cook on Sundays. I made french toast and chocolate banana muffins. I also made turkey salad and made wraps.

All were low-carb. I find that I sleep better when I cut back on carbs and sugar. It's cool.

Shorter workweek

I like a shorter workweek. It makes me look forward to a longer weekend. I am extending it by taking next Monday off.

My busiest workday is Friday. Yay to not having to deal with it this week!

Weird workweek ahead

I blink. The long weekend is over. Crazy!

I have a six-hour workday today. I have to pick up some goodies for a couple of friends after work. I then have Wednesday off.

Considering that I haven't done any travel since March, I have a backlog of vacation days that I"m considering taking a day here and there.

Shorter workweek

It's a shorter workweek. It throws me off.

Tuesday is really Monday. A shorter workweek seems to mean less work. At my workplace, it tends to be busy because everyone wants to cram five days of productivity into four.

To top it off, I have an appointment with my ophthalmologist this Friday. If you looked at my work calendar, I barely have time for lunch!

Happy week ahead, everyone!

A haircut and a horny ex

I finally got my hair cut on Saturday. It has been six months since I last had it cut.

My theory holds true. For the last three months that I have been working from home, I have had my hair tied back in a ponytail. Both my hair's length and the fact that I had it tied back caused a lot of hair loss. Throw in some stress and it got worse.

Tonight, with my much shorter hair, I washed it. My hair loss is significantly less thus far. Yay!

After I wrote my post last night, I got a series of texts from the ex-guy. He was horny.

I haven't responded to him. I have nothing to say other than it was his loss for letting me go.

Panic attack

It has been a while since I have experienced a panic attack. The last time was over a year ago when my ex-guy broke up with me.

My panic attack symptoms are straightforward. My feel like my breathe is short. My chest gets a bit tight. It's not a great feeling.

I used to get these symptoms often when I was in grade 7. I disliked doing presentations in front of the class. These days, I talk so much in front of people that it's not an issue.

My symptoms started happening on Sunday night. It briefly happened after work on Monday. It became full-blown after work on Tuesday.

It took me a while to figure out why. It's the dread that diva woman was taking over a task of mine blindly -- without truly knowing what she needed to do It was the dread of her messing up and the consequences that was and is causing this anxiety.

She drafted up a checklist at 2:30 am on Tuesday for me to review and decided to do this task 6.5 hours later. She had the software release number wrong right off the bat.

Yep, my dread was correct.

This task would take me just under five hours to do. By the time I was done with my workday on Tuesday, she hadn't finished. I realize that it was her first time doing the actual work, but taking eight hours is slow.

I have also realized that she messed up a sequence of changes. Ugh!

Right now, my panic attack symptoms are minimal. It's the case because I am writing about them here and the onus is on her when things aren't right.

I never expected getting a panic attack over this change. Weird. I'm sure that it'll disappear once her work is over.

Sleepy, Superbowl, and socks

This trip has been super short. I took it easy on Sunday for a few reasons.

I still have muscle pain in my right foot due to my pinched nerve years ago. It acted up at around 6 am and I couldn't go back to sleep. Luckily, I went to the drug store a few hours later to get some potassium supplements. My muscle pain gradually went away.

I went to see my friend and had a lovely time catching up with her over lunch. She gifted me two pairs of socks that I love.

Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs for winning the Superbowl this year. I wanted this team to mount a comeback and it did! I was texting with the new boy in my life about the game. It was nice. It felt normal and comfortable. Things continue to go well there.

I am nearly packed. I fly out later on today. I will need to extend my trip next time I'm here. Two days go by so quickly, especially when I'm a zombie. Late yesterday afternoon, I came back to the hotel and crashed. The nap was needed.

Staycation and benefits

I am enjoying my staycation. I like going to work and having a shorter commute.

It's nice to grab some dinner and a hot chocolate after work. I head back to the hotel and relax as if I am at home.

Of course, it's helpful to have been upgraded to a suite. It's cozy and I like the bedroom being separate from the living room. I sleep a lot better without hearing folks in the hallway.

It's always great when your hotel room feels like your home away from home.

It's time for a haircut during the long weekend

I get my hair cut twice a year. I should have got my hair cut in early July. I didn't.

Why? I got a shorter-than-normal haircut back in late December. Right now, it's at the stage where I need to get it cut, which is the length that it typically is in early July. I happen to be nearly two months late.

It's nice to be able to tie it back. When I get it cut, I won't be able to get it all in a ponytail.

I'm likely going to get it cut on the weekend. It's a long weekend, which I am looking so forward to.

Weekend relief from an annoying colleague

Yay, the weekend is here! Although it was a short workweek for me, it seemed incredibly long.

I have a colleague who joined my team over two months ago. She is apparently supposed to be as experienced as I am, but comes across as being junior and not knowing what she is doing. It's to the point where my astute student has made the same observations and shared them with me.

She has an issue with punctuality. She is supposed to be at work by 9:45 am. She has been getting into work at around 10:30 am. On Friday, it was 11:00 am, as noted by my manager.

Both my manager and I have had a talk about it with her. I saw signs of improvement at first, but we are back to square one. She doesn't seem to be making a decent effort.

Anyway, enough about that issue and the fact that she came over five times to talk to me while I was quietly working with my student.  I am off to bed to enjoy sleeping in.

Happy weekend, everyone!

Students, plaid skirt, and a spanking

I have spent the last hour putting together farewell gifts for my students. Earlier in the day, I went out to get gourmet cookies that they love. I also gave them a mug with chocolates inside.

It has been great having them on board. I will be sad to see them go. They do need to head back to university. They are in a few classes together this upcoming term.

My guy likes thinking about my playing his student.
"I would spank you for every question you got wrong on my exam," he said.
"I like that. You'd spank me no matter what result I got on it," I noted.
"Yes, that's true," he replied.
"We both win. I need to find that plaid short skirt of mine," I replied.
He likes that skirt. He immediately got hard. I was already wet. It's all good.

Long weekend and sleep

It's the start of my long Easter weekend. I'm glad that it's here.

This week, although short, has been rough. I did tons of troubleshooting and it all worked out. I lost a colleague. Some colleagues that I have are tedious to talk and listen to.

I'm sleeping in. I'm looking forward to it.

Press-on nails and affection

A year ago, a colleague got me into press-on nails. They have gel adhesive. They can also be filed down to size and shape. They typically last between one and two weeks.

I bought three packs and have only used them once. I decided to give them a try again. I like them.

I learned from my first experience that I need to start with short nails. This time was much better!

My guy looked at my nails. He liked them so much that he immediately grabbed my hand, looked at my hand and nails again, and gave my hand a loving squeeze.

I like that he loves my hands, with or without press-on nails.

Early stages of packing

I started packing a bit roughly ten minutes ago. So far, so good. I still need to top up my cell phone SIM plan for the States.

So far, I have packed the essentials:
  • Leather paddle
  • Lubricant
  • Short skirt
A good girl needs to prioritize.

Haircut and reunion with my hairdresser

I got my hair cut on Thursday. I got four inches off my hair length. It feels great!

For over a year, I had a wonderful hairdresser that did a great job cutting my hair. Sadly, the salon that I went to had closed. It took me a while to find a new salon with an equally competent hairdresser. I found it this past summer.

On Thursday, I went in said salon and checked in. I heard a familiar voice. It was my wonderful hairdresser. Yay!

It's nice to know that everyone at that shut down salon has moved over to this one. I got another hairdresser who has worked with Ms. Wonderful for twenty years. This one did a great job on my new hairdo.

I'm thankful that I have two hairdressers who style my hair perfectly!
