Warmer weather and salads

I must admit that with the warmer weather that I haven't been writing as much as I'd like.

I have noticed that when the weather is warmer that I don't feel like eating hot bowls of ramen or stews. I am back to craving salads. I had on last night for dinner and it hit the spot.

Yep, I'm also trying to eat a bit better. As much as I love noodles and pasta, it's also nice to not get into a carb coma and nap after a huge bowl.

I made a one-skillet chicken dish with green beans and mushrooms. It turned out nicely. It was my first time following this recipe.

Hope you're having a great weekend!

Weekend, rapid COVID-19 test, and sleep

Another weekend has come and gone. I slept extremely well last night. I love the cooler weather.

I have been doing more research on travelling to the States. Things are looking better. I simply need to figure out where I can do a COVID-19 rapid test before I leave. Shoppers Drug Mart offers the test, but you have to call the drugstore and ask. It doesn't give any indication when you look up your local drugstore online.

Have a great week ahead!

Less sleep than expected

Last night, I woke up at 5:30 pm. It was a weird combination of my being warmer than normal, having my right foot start to stiffen up, and my bladder wanting some relief.

I ended up turning on my fan, even though the air conditioning was on. It has been extremely humid lately, but the humidity must have risen overnight for me to sense it. I also took some potassium for my usual right foot issues and attended to my bladder.

After 1.5 hours of being away, which included placing an order for pair of compression socks to help with circulation, I went back to bed and woke up at 9:30 am. I had roughly five hours of sleep. I tend to be functional with five hours of sleep, but crave more of it.

When I came back from running a bunch of errands, I had dinner and took a nap. It explains why I'm still fairly alert, but I'm ready for bed.

Here's hoping that I sleep better tonight.

Rest, heatwave, and panties

I haven't done a whole lot this weekend. Working so much last week required a break from doing a bunch of stuff.

We have a heatwave happening. It's supposed to be 29°C as the high temperature today. I am not ready for it. I have most of my summer clothes packed away.

My bi-monthly shipment of new panties is coming in the mail soon. I am looking forward to them. I like my collection of panties.

Trying out my Google Nest Mini

I have been chipping away at little projects around the house that I have put aside. It was a combination of not spending a lot of time at home and not being motivated.

Two months ago, I got a Google Nest Mini for free. I received in the mail and kept it in its box all this time.

Last night, I decided to give it a whirl. It plays my music fine. I can ask it to play my music and tell me what the weather forecast is. It works like my Alexa speaker.

It would be interesting to pit them together and see if they can converse with each other.

Happy lunar new year!

It's lunar new year! May it be happy, healthy, and wondrous.

It's raining a ton outside. It has been for hours. We have rain and snow advisories. Fun!

Have a great weekend and stay safe.

Walking and winter storm advisory

I walked a lot on Sunday. It has been ages since I spent almost four hours at a mall. I did.

There is a winter storm advisory for tomorrow. Naturally, it's the day that I am meeting a friend whom I haven't seen in almost a decade. I told her that I'd let her know how things unfold. The worst case would be to reschedule for Tuesday.

It's never a dull day, even on vacation!

Slush equals soggy shoes and socks

Saturday was a soggy, slushy weather day. I didn't choose my shoes well. The slush got to my shoes and socks. It wasn't pleasant.

I'm out all weekend, but have made time to sleep in. It's good.

Back to a lower carb regimen

I have been reducing my carb and sugar intake these days. It's not exactly a surprise that when I reduce my carb and sugar consumption, I have more energy.

I started doing this reduction last week. I don't think that I have taken a nap all week. It's impressive.

When the weather is colder, I tend to enjoy carbs. I plan on eating carbs in moderation.

I'd like to get back into eating salads at lunch time. I took the first step and got back into buying baby spinach.

Rest and hobbies

I took Thursday off. I was chilled and tired. I slept. It was all good.

These days, I have been resurrecting my love for sewing. I find it relaxing and a nice way to unwind. I hope to get around to learning how to crochet.

It's nice doing quiet hobbies, especially when the weather is getting colder.

More snow

It has been a rough winter. When I wake up on Wednesday morning, snow will begin to fall for the entire day.

Oh, joy! We are expecting anywhere between ten and fifteen centimetres of snow.

I work from home on Wednesdays, so I'm good staying home. I am looking forward to warmer weather, though.

Thoughts, winter storm, and cuddles

I have a lot to say. The problem is that I said a ton on Monday at work that I am too tired to write about it right now. I'll give it a try in a future post.

In the meantime, a winter storm is brewing. It starts in a few hours. When weather forecasters recommend that you work from home, you do just that. It's estimated that 15 to 20 centimetres of snow will fall. Add to this mix strong winds and freezing rain, and it makes sense to just stay at home.

On Monday night, I went to the grocery store to stock up on food. I enjoy cooking at home these days. I make the time.

My guy is still in India. He is fortunate to not endure all this wintry weather. He told me that he prefers sleeping, especially on snowy days. I like the thought of cuddling up next to him on a snowy day. I wish we had a fireplace!

First major snowstorm of the season

Ah, snow. Just when I am planning a road trip, our first major snowstorm hit late afternoon.

The timing couldn't have been better. It started just before rush hour. It took me 2.5 hours to get home.

The snow is supposed to subside in the early afternoon. I will assess and see if it's a decent time to head stateside.

The good news is that my vacation starts now. Fortunately, my schedule is pretty flexible. I just need to be somewhere on Saturday night.

My sleepyhead and jet lag

My guy doesn't handle timezones well.
"How are you?" I asked him.
"Sleepy. I sleep all the time. On the weekend, I slept in till 5 pm," he confessed.
"It must be the change in time and maybe weather," I said.
"It could be. I sleep in class, too. I tell my students to do an exercise, and I go to sleep. I wake up, ask if they are done, and go back to sleep," he said.
That's my sweet jet-lagged guy. Luckily, he returns home on Saturday.

Driving his future car and abruptly changing the subject

My guy and I had a good chat on Skype yesterday. It's nice that we get to see each other this weekend.

We ended up chatting about cars, at first. My guy is the type who likes to get a completely different car than the one that he previously owned. As for me, it's a feeling. I have owned two Priuses in a row. I would have got another one, but I wanted a change and went with a Scion (now Corolla) iM.
"Who knows? Maybe the change will be driving your next car," I teased.
"How's the weather in Toronto?" he asked.
"Wow, that was a mighty subtle subject change," I said sarcastically, which made him laugh.
"I just had to ask about the weather," he said, chuckling.
It's fun teasing him and seeing how protective he is about his cars, whether he owns it now or will in future.

Weather fluctuations causes wardrobe confusion

These temperature swings are maddening! Last Saturday, it was 7°C as a high with rain. On Wednesday, I went out for a break during the day, as I work from home. The temperature reached a high of 27°C.

I am confused as to how I should dress. On the weekend, I had a light winter puffy jacket, a winter hat, mitts, and Sherpa-lined shoes. On Wednesday, i went outside in a short-sleeved t-shirt, lightweight jeans, no socks, and sneakers.

It's almost like we skipped spring. Weird!

Let it snow... hard!

The eastern part of North America is getting a ton of snow overnight and into Tuesday. I am hoping that I can work from home on Tuesday.

We got lake-effect snow on Monday afternoon. It looked pretty looking out the window at work. My boss had originally thought that our team should leave work early and resume work at home. However, the snow didn't stay on the ground. I am not complaining.

My drive home was pretty good. There were patches of snow here and there. Nothing major to report.

I just want lots of snow when I wake up, so I can say that I am going to stay at home and work. Please?

Texting with my guy on a snowy Sunday afternoon

I woke up to a couple of nice messages from my guy. He knows that I like sleeping in on weekends.

My guy loves to sleep. I tend to greet him with wakey, wakey. He reciprocated today, which was sweet.

It was snowing all over the greater Toronto area. It's still snowing as I type!

On Sunday, I went out in the early afternoon with a friend to exchange Christmas cheer and gifts early. My guy (MG) texted me while I was walking into a store.
MG: How is your snowy day excursion going so far?
Me: Good. Shopping and in one piece!
MG: One piece is good
Me: How are you doing?
MG: I made it to Moldova
MG: You wanna chat a bit?
Me: Good
Me: Sadly, I can't chat. I'm with a friend
Me: Am I in trouble?
MG: No worries
MG: We can do that tomorrow
Me: Yay!
MG: Happy shopping
Me: I can be a good girl
MG: We'll discuss that tomorrow
Me: Thanks! Hope you have a good evening.
Me:  No, me good girl!
MG: Thanks
MG: You're sweet, pretty, sexy.... etc., but not good
Me: Mr meanie!
MG: That is me
My guy is definitely in a good place. He doesn't have to deal with wintry weather for a week.

Hot weather and cheesy one-liners

The week has just started. I am already looking forward to the weekend.

It's a three-day weekend coming up. My guy and I are hoping to meet up on Saturday. He is going camping with a few friends on Sunday. He doesn't like camping, but goes to simply bond with his guy friends.
"I hope that you'll be wearing shorts or a skirt," my guy said to me.
"I probably will. It has been hot outside lately. You'll be there, so it'll be hotter," I said.
We have been a couple for a while. We even borrow cheesy lines from each other. We both think that it's sweet.

My new nickname: boner-giving girl

My guy has been sick with a cold for the past few days. He called me tonight.
"I'm back to taking walks in the evening," he advised.
"That's good. I am glad that you're feeling better. Is it still hot outside?" I asked him.
"It's hot, but it's cooling off now that the sun is setting," he reported.
"Good. You handle warmer weather better than I do," I admitted.
"Yes, I'm fine when it's hot outside," he remarked.
"Yep, and I need to hibernate indoors when it's hot outside. In the wintertime, I do better," I observed.
"In the wintertime, I don't do as well because I don't get to see your bare legs," my guy said.
"You're sweet," I remarked.
"It's true. You know how much I love your legs. I look at photos of your legs when I miss you. You're an attractive woman," he stated.
"Thanks, sweetie," I replied.
"You give many boners. You are boner-giving girl."
I have a new nickname. Nice!

My guy actually said that one point that he hoped that folks walking past him would not look at his boner. It's safe to say that my guy is back to his normal self.
