Broke out of the house

Yesterday, I went out at long last. It was a warmer day for a brief period, reaching a high of 3°C.

There is a lot of snow here. A bit of it melted. The problem now is that it's refreezing. I expect lots of potholes.

Right now, it's windy and the temperature is tanking. Fun.

Here's a carved path near where I live:

Weighted blanket and temperature drop

I bought a weighted blanket. It was on sale. I have heard that it promotes better sleep.

My blanket is 20 pounds. It was quite the workout getting it from the post office to my car, and then from my car, up a set of stairs, to my bedroom.

I have a duvet cover, but it's likely too thin for this weighted blanket. I went on Amazon and bought one specifically for a weighted blanket. I'm excited to get it.

In the meantime, I'm going to use it tonight and see how it goes. I'll report back soon.

It's weird that a few days ago, the temperature was 30°C. The temperature later on today is expected to be 5°C. Yikes!

Rest, heatwave, and panties

I haven't done a whole lot this weekend. Working so much last week required a break from doing a bunch of stuff.

We have a heatwave happening. It's supposed to be 29°C as the high temperature today. I am not ready for it. I have most of my summer clothes packed away.

My bi-monthly shipment of new panties is coming in the mail soon. I am looking forward to them. I like my collection of panties.

New winter tires and shuttle driver comparison

Wednesday was a long day. It was also a good one.

I finally got my winter tires installed on my car. It makes a huge difference. I'm glad that I got them.

I had to get a shuttle ride home and back to the car servicing centre. I had two different shuttle drivers.

Some drivers need to work on their conversational skills. I felt like I was being interrogated by the first driver.
"What's wrong with your car?" he asked me, pulling out of the service area.
"There's nothing wrong with it. I'm getting winter tires," I replied.
"Are you parents Chinese?" he asked me.
"Yes," I replied.
"How long have you been in Canada?" he asked me.
"All my life," I replied.
"How long is that?" he asked.
"I'm not telling you. I would be revealing my age," I said firmly.
The interrogation stopped. I turned the table and asked him about cruises that he has been on.

On the contrary, I enjoyed chatting with the driver going to the service centre to pick up my car.
"Hi there," I said, getting into the van.
"Hello. Cold, huh?" he asked me.
"I used to live in Winnipeg. Today is a good day," I replied (-14°C).
"You must be a good winter driver," he concluded.
"You do learn how to drive in winter conditions when you are in Winnipeg," I replied.
We ended up talking about his winter driving experiences in Tokyo and more. He had one other customer to pick up. We all ended up chatting about being a mail carrier (this customer's mail carrier had just handed him his mail while he was walking towards the van).

When I was doing paying and getting my paperwork, my service advisor shook my hand, and wished me a happy Christmas and 2018 to come. He's a good person.

I drove home happy with my new wheels.

Warm and cool

My guy is in Cairo again this week, which is unseasonably cold. Temperatures there are not much different than in Toronto.

He told me the other day that he had to buy two space heaters to keep him warm, as there is no heating where he is staying.
"I wish that I was with you to warm you up," I said.
"You are like a furnace," he commented.
I am warm-blooded. Whenever my guy has cold hands, I hold his in mine until they warm up.

I envy him in the summertime. I don't do well in heat and humidity. I end up sweating buckets and hibernating in any place that has air conditioning. He, on the other hand, is perfectly cool under such conditions. Sometimes, he ends up wearing a long-sleeved dress shirt and I marvel at how he can stay comfortable in it.

We are different. Yet, we balance each other out in many ways.

C is for cutting bangs

This past weekend, it was fairly nippy outside. I had to wear my knitted winter cap. Wearing this article of clothing isn't unusual these days, considering that it has been a cooler spring than the norm.

I have always had bangs. My bangs certainly needed to be trimmed. With the hat on, I could barely see.

So that evening, I decided to cut them myself. I think that I cut them shorter than I normally do. The good thing is that I won't have to trim them for a while. The bad aspect to trimming them so short is that I feel that they are actually too short.

Anyway, my guy is in the office this week for a few days. He is attending a seminar, which is a change from delivering one.

On Tuesday, we missed each other. We were supposed to go for lunch, but I was away from my desk when he had pinged me. Instead, my guy thought that we could talk after work for a bit. He had to leave to go to an appointment, but still managed to squeeze in some time.

We talked in one of the lunchrooms at the office. He was hungry and was heating up some oatmeal. I was hungry, too. He offered to share his oatmeal with me, but I didn't want too many carbs in my system to make me feel sluggish driving home.

He noticed my clear gel nail polish and loved how my nails looked. We chatted about our day for nearly half an hour.

My guy is perceptive. He told me that my bangs looked good, which made me look good. He is sweet.

We're going to try having lunch on Thursday. Yay!

Sleeping poorly and being apart

This week, my guy is on a business trip in Montreal. The last time he was there, he had just bought his new car and drove there. This time around, he took a flight out.

We both haven't slept very well. Last night, I was tossing and turning. I eventually stopped looking at the clock at 03:45 and woke up three hours later, just raring to go to work.

My guy wrote to me tonight, saying that he was too tired to talk. He hasn't slept well for the past two nights.

I am not sure whether it is the cooler weather here or the fact that we are apart that is keeping up awake.
