Happy 2026! Thoughts and dry eye

Happy 2026! I hope that your year has started off well.

Where I am, we had a record snowstorm on Sunday. Toronto Pearson International Airport got 46 cm of snow. Those closest to Lake Ontario got 60 cm, including my old neighbourhood of the Beaches.

I live in the suburbs. I got a lot of snow. I don't think it was 60 cm. It was a lot.

Last year wasn't the best. I ended up with a stomach ulcer, which required some medication, yogurt, probiotics, and Gravol. The medication made me gag, which explains the Gravol. Since then, I do feel like I gag more when I see something that triggers that feeling.

Weird.

I keep on saying that I have a lot to say. I truly do. I have a lot to post about my mom's recovery from her broken arm and my difficult relationship with my dad.

I will start off with December and work my way backwards in 2025.

I get my eyes examined every two years in December. Earlier in the year, I noticed that my eyes were getting dry wearing contacts. My eyes felt gritty and I'd often take my contact lenses out.

For most of 2025, I wore my glasses instead. My eyeballs felt better. I'd be putting in eye drops whenever I needed them.

My eye doctor said that my eyes were in great shape and that my prescription hadn't changed. She did notice that the pores were clogged under my eyelids by natural oils. It explains my dry eye.

She recommended putting warm compresses over my eyelids to melt the oils. I did that by heating up a mask in the microwave. It felt great over my eyelids, but the heat would die down after ten minutes.

I bought a plug-in eye mask instead for more consistent heat. I use it every day over my eyelids for twenty minutes. It's me time. I like how relaxing the heat is.

I feel that this eye mask procedure has helped. I wore contacts lenses for the first time in months last week. I had them on for three hours. They were comfortable. I didn't feel any grit.

I haven't tried wearing them to work. Baby steps. I'll probably wear them this Saturday when I run errands for a few hours and see how I feel.

I still use eye drops. I lubricate my eyeballs twice a day. It has been easy. I have eye drops in the washroom. I remember applying them after washing my face in the morning.

Just before bed, I apply eye drops before I fall asleep.

Time to use my eye mask. I'll try writing another post before January is over. I need to ease into writing more regularly again.

Verdict on using a tissue to eliminate eyeglasses from fogging up

I decided to skip a day posting here. Friday was pretty busy that I ended up taking a nap at around 22:30, woke up, brushed my teeth, and went to bed for another 7 hours!

My appointment with my ophthalmologist went well. He says that my eyes are healthy such that I don't need to see him for another six months. It's good that I don't need an eye injection. Here's hoping that this trend continues.

As for my eyeglasses fogging up, I tried the tissue technique where I had it folded as a strip at the top of my mask. At first, it did fog up, but not as badly as if I didn't have the tissue. Within a minute, there was no fogging at all. It was nice to do the eye test and not apologize for not being able to read the chart due to fog.

Another tip that I got was to wash your lenses with baby shampoo. You then let your eyeglasses air-dry. I haven't tried it, but I'm curious.

Foggy glasses when wearing a mask

I have an appointment with my ophthalmologist today. Last time I was there, I had to read the eye chart with my glasses and mask on. My glasses fogged up, so this task was difficult to achieve.

I just learned to use a tissue inside your mask, at the top, to prevent fogging. I'm going to try it and see how things go.

Years ago, I had anti-fogging spray that I used on my lenses. Perhaps I should get something similar again.

Anti-blue light-blocking computer glasses

I ordered a pair of blue light-blocking computer eyeglasses. They are non-prescription ones. I am wearing them right now. They are comfortable! We'll see whether they reduce my eye strain.

This week, I have been taking more breaks away from my laptop, which has helped a lot. Luckily, I have two more workdays before a long weekend, so that should help me recover.

Since I have changed my blog's comments access to members-only, the spam messages have ceased. I will keep it on for a bit before I test out going back to the original setting. Exciting!

Computer eyeglasses - do they work?

I am contemplating getting computer eyeglasses to reduce eye strain. I've noticed it more since I came back from vacation and have been back to the grind.

Do these computer eyeglasses help? Is it better to get something similar, but as a screen protector for a computer monitor or laptop screen?

I need to do some research. I haven't got a clue. I do know that I'm much happier not looking at a computer screen for hours.

Vacation, eyewear, and contact lenses

My vacation has begun. What have I done so far? I have ordered two new pairs of eyeglasses and two boxes of contact lenses.

Riveting stuff, right? I'm off to bed.

Happy weekend, everyone!

Vision is good

Yesterday, I got to squeeze in my appointment with my optometrist. All went well. I have nearly 20/20 vision again. Yay!

My prescription  is relatively stable, except for my astigmatism. It's exciting to get a new pair of glasses. I haven't for the last four years.

Saving money thanks to my stable eye prescription

It has been two years since I last got my eye exam. Although I have felt that my nearsightedness hasn't changed, I still needed a new prescription.

Ah, the joys of getting older! Two years ago, my optometrist indicated that my nearsightedness was improving, which meant that I would start seeing changes when I read. Sure enough, it has slightly. I read better with my contact lenses out or my glasses off. Otherwise, wearing my contacts with my reading glasses (it's an extremely low prescription) works just fine.

On Wednesday, I had my eye exam. Typically, it costs me $90, with my health insurance helping to cover that cost. Since I had my eye stroke, my eye exam was considered a followup appointment. As a result, the Ontario health care system picked up the tab instead. Sweet!

My prescription hasn't changed. I get to keep my existing pairs of glasses. Yep, I got two pairs two years ago. There was a deal that essentially got me two pairs for the price of one. I love the cost savings!

Today, I ordered a six-month supply of contact lenses that combine correcting my nearsightedness and reading. I am looking forward to them. I tried them in the past and they were helpful, but that was roughly a year ago. My insurance picks up the tab.

It's nice saving some money. I am thankful.

Solar eclipse and full moon

I thought that I would miss the solar eclipse on Monday. After all, I was at work when it happened.

I went to the lunchroom to fill my cup with hot tea. I saw five guys try and take photos from the window. They didn't have any special eclipse glasses on. Yikes!

My colleague let me know that there were folks downstairs who were happy to share their safe cardboard glasses with folks. She's sweet. We went down together, along with my manager and another one.

Sure enough, Sharky, who lusts after me, according to my guy, told us that the IT guy would share his glasses with us. I am fortunate to have a decent working relationship with him. Sure enough, he shared his glasses with me.

I put them on. Everything was black in my view, except for the cool, orange crescent moon. Whoa! I was impressed.

Naturally, on Twitter, I came across this gem:

I love the Fifty Shades movie series. I love this play on words from Fifty Shades of Grey. I couldn't help but laugh. Hard!

Reminiscing about my eyesight these days

I have been nearsighted since I was sixteen years old. The nice part about my nearsightedness is that it has never been a horrible prescription.

For a few years after getting my first pair of glasses, I could still get away with not wearing my glasses all the time. It wasn't until I got my first pair of contact lenses towards the end of my undergraduate years that I embraced my prescription.

I have been working from home these past couple of days. On Wednesday, I did a quick outing. I hopped in my car and drove off.

It wasn't until I was at the stop sign at the end of my street that I realized that I wasn't wearing my contact lenses. I was letting my eyeballs breathe. I didn't have my glasses with me, either. Yet, my sight was pretty good. I continued to drive to run my errand and was fine.

My right eye has gone through an eye stroke back in March. It's amazing how far I have come. My eyesight these days reminds me of being sixteen years old again. It's neat. I am just glad that I'm not that age!

Spanking interest, fish jealousy, and laser eye surgery

It's enjoyable teasing my guy. I basically teased him about how he will not let me drive his car. I tried convincing him -- that sharing means caring. Nope. His car is his baby.

He mentioned wanting to be spanked today. I suppose the light spankings that he has received so far are making him want to explore being spanked some more. I love his enthusiasm. The only downside is that he's not here!

He returns home in a few days. He has not been enjoying his commute from his hotel to work in Dublin. It took him nearly two hours today. So, he is changing hotels and moving closer to the office.

As for me, I am interested in finding decent fish supplies for my pet betta. My guy thinks that I am taking my fish way too seriously. I don't think that I am overdoing it. Perhaps he is jealous that I am pampering my fish more these days.

Anyway, my guy is interested in getting laser eye surgery. I have done a decent amount of research over the years. My prescription isn't bad. My optometrist doesn't think that it's worth it for me to have the surgery. My guy would be a better candidate.
"I like when you're not wearing your glasses. You look good," I told him.
"Thanks, sweetie," he replied. "The only problem is that I have bags under my eyes and my glasses hide them."
The secret is out at long last.

Spicy photos for my guy because he misses me

The good news is that my guy and I are meeting for lunch on Sunday. We haven't seen each other since before Christmas.

I told him that my eye prescription has changed. It is back to the prescription that I had when I was an undergraduate. The downside is that I will likely need reading glasses soon. These days, I am still okay. It comes with growing older.

Anyway, the optical place that I went to was great. I got two pairs of glasses. I don't really need two, but both pairs cost me less money than my single pair of glasses two years ago! I love them.

I told my guy about them. He wanted to see me in them. I said that I would take a couple of photos with the selfie stick that he had bought me last year. For the record, I'm not a huge selfie photo taker. However, my guy convinced me that it comes in handy when I am travelling and can't find someone to take my photo for me.

My guy suggested that I could spice up the photos a bit, if I wanted to. I can tell when my guy misses me.

On my first day back at work, we chatted for half an hour on our company's instant messaging system. He also wanted to ask how I was feeling, as I have had a nagging cough that has disrupted my sleep for a few nights. He's thoughtful that way.

I finally got around to taking photos with my two pairs of glasses. I also managed to take a couple of photos of my unzipping my hoodie to reveal my boobs in a lacy black bra.

As expected, my photos were a hit with my guy:
Hey there sexy girl,
Thanks a bunch for the awesome pics. I love both glasses. You make them both look good. I don't need to say how much I enjoyed the bra pics. =)
See you Sunday, sweet thing!
I can't wait to see him again.

Dropping his glasses and pulling down my panties

Last Saturday, my guy returned from his two-week trip to Seattle. We decided to meet at work in the parking lot.

For once, we both timed it perfectly. I got there by 16:00. My guy's taxi dropped him off at his car about five minutes later.

My guy came over to my car. He looked happy and even more attractive to me. He opened the passenger-side door to adjust the seat forward. I caressed his head, running my fingers through his soft, curly hair. He liked that.

I felt like I was a school girl. I wore a skirt and a sweater with a wider crew neck than normal. My guy liked my outfit, too.

We held hands. As always, his hands were freezing cold. I held them until they warmed up. He insisted on spanking my bare butt to warm them up. The spanking came a bit later.

My guy took his glasses off and placed them on the armrest in front of us. We kissed and hugged. It seemed like ages since we did. I missed his soft lips against mine. I told him so. He felt the same way about mine.

He caressed my bare legs. He then found my panties and pulled them down. He proceeded to pleasure me. I was so wet that you could visibly see the large wet patches on the gusset. Needless to say, I reached orgasm pretty quickly.

During this phase of our treehouse time, my guy knocked his glasses over. I felt like we were playing Twister. My legs were intertwined with his. He went to look for his glasses around. He couldn't find them. Instead, he found my bare left hip and kissed it.

Eventually, we both managed to shift our positions a bit more. His glasses had fallen into the front seat.

Of course, I had my fair share of fun. I accidentally pressed the automatic window button, so it came down. I fixed that a few seconds later.

It's never a dull moment with us. It's fun that way.

Brown M&M's image on my cell phone's lock screen and legs

I am a fan of the M&M's characters. It made sense to me to have a new M&M's wallpaper for my new cell phone's lock screen. I decided to use this one, courtesy of M&M's:

I showed my guy the photo at lunch the other day, which sparked this conversation:
"I like this photo. She reminds me of me. I have the same type of glasses. I also like going to Starbucks," I told my guy.
"Yes. You are also sophisticated and stylish like she is," my guy explained.
"Really? Are you sure that you have the right girl?" I asked him.
"I am positive," my guy replied. "You have nicer legs that she does, though."
My guy is sweeter than the candy-coated chocolate that never melts in your hands.
