Meatball soup and nail polish colour

On Sunday, I made meatball soup. It turned out well. The recipe is a keeper.

I used a beef-veal mix for the meatballs. I also used a veggie-beef broth mix. So flavourful. I'm glad that I made a large amount of it.

I decided to use nail polish on my nails. During this pandemic, I switched to using clear shellac. I looked at my nail polish collection and kind of missed seeing colour. It's nice to change things up.

Receiving my friend's voice message

Yesterday afternoon, I received a text message from my dear friend's hubby through my friend's cell phone. He had texted me a voice message from my friend that was played at her funeral service. He thought that I'd like to have it to remember her.

It was such a nice gesture. I texted him back and thanked him. I was grateful to have been able to attend her funeral from afar. Hearing her voice again was and still is comforting.

I sent him my love and thoughts to him and his daughter. He appreciated it.

It's hard to believe that it has been a week since I got the news about my friend's passing. Although I am healing, it will definitely take a while to get back to my regular self.

Weekend, Blogger, and food

The weekend is finally here!

With the revamped Blogger, when you first write something in a brand new post, the editor moves the cursor over by one character. It's weird. I need to backspace to get the cursor left-aligned. I'd like to know who thought that was a decent feature to implement. Every other paragraph is left-aligned, as expected, as the default.

I am on a food journey this weekend. I have a $40 dinner to redeem. I have been going back and forth as to whether I should redeem it this weekend or next. It's cooler outside these days (at night, the temperature has dipped into single-digit territory on the Celsius scale), so I'm thinking some mac and cheese is in order. This eatery offers three types of mac and cheese, so you know that screams comfort food.

This restaurant's first location has been in my city for at least a decade. It recently opened a second location in Whitby, which is roughly half an hour away from where I live. That's where I'm going to pick up this food perk. I'm excited. I hope that all goes well.

Have a safe and happy weekend, everyone!

Having comfort food and reliving good memories with my mom

It makes perfect sense to crave certain foods that bring comfort, or be comforted by something or someone during a pandemic. When it comes to the former, I seem to love carbs.

The other night, my mom and I were reminiscing about meals that she used to cook when I was younger. She fried up some luncheon meat when we were in Hong Kong years ago. It was my first and only visit there. She had never made it until then. It was delicious. So simple. Yet, so good.

I grew up with her making macaroni in soup. Last night, I did takeout at a local Chinese restaurant that has a drive-thru. I got macaroni with veggies and fried luncheon meat in soup. It came with fried eggs, milk tea, and ham. I brought it come to have for dinner. It felt like the comfort food that my mom used to make.

It was yummy. It made me feel happy.

Happy Easter!

To those who celebrate Easter, may it be joyous and peaceful.

On Saturday, I probably purchased the most expensive turkey in my life. I had to get one that was already stuffed. Slim pickings this year. That's okay. I look forward to leftovers.

Cooking is healing and comforting. I'll need it.

Last summer feel when it's practically autumn

Saturday felt like a warm summer day. I took advantage of the day by heading over to a park in Port Perry and getting ice cream.

Last weekend, I was doing work. This weekend, I am focusing on relaxing and unwinding. It's quite the contrast.

It's nice that I am cooking more these days. On Saturday, I made myself breakfast, consisting of an omelette, bacon, and perogies. On Friday, I got a new container for my Vitamix where I can whip up mousse and more. I need to find a recipe and give it a try.

Parking next to my guy's car is comforting

I miss my guy.

On Friday, I went out for lunch with my colleagues. It was at an all-you-can-eat sushi place. Both my guy and I typically avoid such restaurants, for we don't enjoy overeating and wanting to nap for the rest of the day. However, I was pretty good about not going into a sushi coma. The variety was nice.

After we had finished eating at the restaurant, I drove three of my other colleagues back to the office. I got a free spot in the parking lot, which was next to my guy's car.

Even though he has been away for a week, I feel comforted parking my car next to his. It's good.

Last week, when I drove over to the restaurant to meet my guy for dinner, I couldn't find his car. I drive a blue car, so it's easy to spot. In contrast, he drives a white car, which is pretty common.

I tried calling him, but his cell phone was dead and needed charging. He is horrible at charging it, but has always remembered my trick of putting it in airplane mode to charge it faster on the plane.

He walked over to me, as he spotted me when I first drove into the restaurant's lot. We walked over a part of the parking lot with gravel. He instinctually grabbed my hand and wanted to make sure that I was okay.

I miss his natural sweetness of just being himself.

On a good note, I have my purple woolly stuffed plush that reminds me of him. I would miss him a lot more if I didn't have purple woolly to cuddle.

One week down. Two more to go before I see him again.

My guy is Mr. Fix-it when my bottom no longer smarts

Last Tuesday, when my guy and I were seated at a booth in our favourite Chinese restaurant for lunch, we had this conversation.
"My bottom doesn't hurt," I observed, thankful that we had padded seats in our booth.
"I can quickly fix that," my guy said, without missing a beat.
It's nice when he is into spanking me often. I am glad that he is sticking around for a bit before he travels again on business.

A phone call before our Thursday night dinner

Before my guy and I became an item, we chatted casually on Skype. He asked me for my Skype handle and I gave it to him. A day later, he added me and said who he was.

One day, while sending instant messages on Skype, he asked if we could talk over Skype, as he tends to be an "old-fashioned guy." It kind of makes sense as we have come to know each other.

I was at work on Thursday. At around 16:45, he came upstairs to our cubicle area and talked to me about something work-related. His actions were the complete reverse compared to the previous day. I think that he was less tense after having our talk. I suggested that he talk to a couple of software developers upstairs. He liked my advice and did just that.

Technically, he didn't have to come upstairs. He could have sent me a text message. Instead, he wanted to talk face-to-face.

Roughly forty minutes later, he came back to his cubicle. Rather than sending me a message on Skype to figure out whether I was ready to leave work, he disappeared.

A minute later, my desk phone at work was ringing. It was from a conference room -- the same room in which we had had our chat the day before. He was cheerful. He asked if I was ready to go. I was. I noted that he was connecting with me in an old-school fashion. He said yes. We both liked it.

My guy left work first. I followed shortly after. I met him in the parking lot. He was sitting in his car. I said hi, reached through his half-opened car window to caress his head. He smiled. He clearly liked that.

We walked into the restaurant, both ordered noodle dishes, and talked. He started off fretting about changes at work and some baggage from his past, but I managed to make him laugh towards the end of the night.

Perhaps an hour or two later, we headed to the counter to settle our bill. My guy was kind to pay.
"Thanks for dinner," I said, which is normally how I express how much I appreciate having dinner with him.
"You're welcome. Thanks for the company, sweetness."
"You're welcome, sweetie."
He's getting back to his normal self. He just needs some time and support.

Checking up my sadness and spanking aftermath

I have mentioned in the past that I tend to initiate writing e-mails to my guy, to see how he is and such. Lately, when my guy is concerned about me, he tends to send me e-mails.

Sure, we Skype, but we're not always online at the same time, unless it's during regular business hours. Yes, we both have cell phones, but our texts are short and we are often meeting somewhere and need to communicate quickly. Writing e-mails allows us to express a lot more.

On Thursday, both of us were working from home. He sent me an e-mail, asking if I was feeling better -- both emotionally and physically from the spanking that I had received the previous evening.

I wrote to him, saying that I wasn't sad like I was on Wednesday. My backside was sore, as expected. I liked how I had a constant reminder of the fine level of service that I got from him whenever I was seated.

I also hoped that he wasn't scared from my crying while receiving such a hard spanking from him. I told him that I was sad. Being scolded and spanked hard while being so sad caused me to cry. It was an emotional release and I felt much better after letting my sadness out.

My guy wrote back tonight. He told me not to worry about crying in front of him. He let me know that I am comfortable doing it and that I can tell him exactly how I feel. He admitted that he was worried about me on Wednesday, but he knew that I would get out of my blueness phase.

Last week, he said something to me that was significant in my eyes. My blog posts these days are a bit messed up (I have two older posts to complete, for instance). On Wednesday, he told me that I was the best girlfriend he could ever have.

To most folks, using girlfriend would sound like being in high school and perhaps even like we were naive young kids starting out in the world. My guy using this word to describe me is huge. He has never used it before, although it has always been understood since we've been together. I told him that. It meant and still means a lot to me.

Just when you think that you can't grow closer as a couple, you truly do.

Ear infection and wanting to be spanked in an elevator

For the past few days, I have been battling an ear infection. My hearing is muffled, but it only affects my left ear. I spent most of the morning at the doctor's office. I am on antibiotics for the next week. Here's hoping that my ear drains soon.

Yesterday, I went to work. I got to see my guy. We talked for quite a bit.

My guy and I are on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to seeing the glass being half empty (him) or half full (me), as the saying goes. We both agreed that it's almost better to have lower expectations about something, so you don't get as disappointed. That happened to me a few months ago. He had never seen me so down in spirits.

I told him that he did the sweetest thing that day by taking the elevator down to the basement. We got off the elevator and he hugged me. He told me that everything would be okay. I felt safe and reassured. I melted in his arms. I felt comforted.

Yesterday, I thanked him. I was a bit late, but I felt obligated. I told him that I have fond memories of being with him in various elevators. He smiled and nodded in agreement.

I find being in an elevator to be a turn-on for me. My guy and I often hug and kiss in one when we are together -- just the two of us in the elevator. We have thought about trying to stop the elevator so we can just make out, but the elevators at our workplace don't have that capability unless we are truly trapped.

My guy gropes me from time to time when we're taking the elevator. I find it highly stimulating.

I often fantasize about being bent over in an elevator, having my skirt lifted up, my panties taken down, and being spanked. I love the idea of being trapped in an elevator and having no place to escape from a hard, well-deserved spanking.

One of these days, we'll need to find an elevator that we can temporarily stall. In the meantime, I do enjoy making out in one. We did that yesterday. We hugged and kissed. Too bad we don't work on the 65th floor.
