A break from the boss due to technology

My manager's laptop had issues charging. He basically said that he only had 23 percent power before he was done for the day.

As sad as his laptop situation was, I actually felt relieved that he wasn't online. My inbox got a break, which meant that I got a break, too.

We'll see if this break continues or if it's business as usual later today.

Cookbook and charging adapter from Amazon Prime Days

I participated in my first Amazon Prime Days event. I typically don't have a thing to buy. However, there were a few things that I wanted this year.

One was a vegan recipe book. I'm not vegan. The fact that the recipes are dairy-free suit me, as I'm borderline lactose-intolerant.

I got a charging adapter that has more electrical outlets, including three USB ports. I installed it in the basement.

This charging adapter is perfect. It has a screw that stays put when plugged into the wall outlet. I needed it and solves my issue with any plug that wouldn't stay plugged in. Yay!

Buying items that I need

It's nice when it's payday and I can get items that I have been waiting to buy. I'm either replacing broken items or am about to run out of essentials.

I went ahead and bought two Fitbit Alta chargers. I spent a good $10 on them. I need a backup in case it breaks on me again.

I also ordered two boxes of contact lenses. My usual brand isn't available, so I'm trying a different brand. I'll see how it goes. I'm currently using my last pair.

It's time to go to bed. It has been a long, but good week. Here's to the weekend!

Fitbit Alta charger died and thinking about my next Fitbit product

I have been using a Fitbit Alta for over a couple of years. The battery is starting to not hold a charge as long as it used to.

The charger has a clip that secures the Alta while it charges. The clip broke.

Part of me is thinking about getting either the Versa Lite or Versa 2. Part of me wants to continue using the Alta until it truly does not function anymore.

I can't afford to get a new watch right now. Perhaps in a few months, I will be able to save enough for it then. Leasing a car wasn't on my radar in August. I thought that I would be doing it in January!

In the meantime, I have found a charger for my Alta for $8. I'm good with this cheaper solution.

Black smoke from my laptop charger

I have owned a universal laptop charger for roughly seven years. I had to retire it the other day.

On Wednesday morning, I had a teleconference at 08:00. I took the call on my laptop, with it plugged in and charging.

Just before the call ended, I noticed that there was black smoke coming from the charger. Some of the wires were exposed and touching, which caused the black casing around it to slowly burn. Naturally, I unplugged everything and used another charger.

On my call, the moderator said the following,
"Cutiebootie, do you have anything to add? Are you still on the call?"
I was, but needed to attend to this small incident that was thankfully just that. I unmuted my mic, said what I had to say, and our meeting came to a close.

It's good that it wasn't a video conference. The last thing I wanted folks to see was my laptop going up in smoke!

Driving over to my guy's car at the airport and getting a few lovetaps for being good

Our scheduled meeting on Saturday afternoon did not go as planned. My guy called me from the parking lot at the airport and told me that his car was dead. He couldn't unlock it. The anti-theft system wasn't responding to his remote. He had a physical key, but both my guy and the CAA (Canadian Automobile Association) guy could not find the lock on the car to use it.

I asked my guy whether he wanted me to drive over to be with him. At first, he didn't think it was a good idea because the tow truck was going to tow his car back to his town. He then said that he felt guilty that I had driven such a long way to see him. I told him not to worry, as he didn't plan to have issues with his car.

My guy was obviously tired after a long trip back from Stockholm. He wanted to just get in his car and drive off. He was then okay with my dropping by.

Since my guy is directionally challenged, trying to tell me which parking lot he is at was difficult. He told me that he was across the street from a terminal, which threw me off. I eventually figured out that he was parked at the departures level by the terminal in the daily parking lot.

My challenge was trying to find the up ramp to get to the seventh floor. The signage was completely messed up. Eventually, I figured it out.
"Which parking stall number are you parked at again?" I asked my guy, as we were on the phone the whole time I was driving over.
"G 46," he replied.
"Ah, I see your butt," I replied, as my guy was bent over his computer bag. "Best view all day. Okay, I'm going to hang up."
My guy looked relieved to see me. He came over and groped my butt, which turned me on.
"I need my cell phone charged," he replied. He knows that I have a micro USB cable in my car.
"Sure," I said, taking his phone.
I bent over to insert my car keys in the ignition, and found my cable that has both a micro USB and lightning tips. I thought to myself that the position that I was in would be good for spanking. My guy helped himself and smacked my butt.
"Hey, I'm a good girl for charging your cell phone," I said, smiling at him.
"Yes, but you're my bad girl," he said, giving me a couple more smacks for good measure.
We hugged and kissed while we charged his cell phone at 3% power. There is more to come.

Being close with my guy from afar

During my guy's two-week trip to Seattle, his hotel's Internet connection was horrible. It was okay for us to text on Skype, but it wasn't a strong enough signal for us to chat.

The last night that my guy was at that hotel, we started off texting, but he insisted on hearing my voice.
"I will use my phone's data plan," my guy stated.
"Will that be a lot to expense?" I asked him.
"It's okay. I have done it in the past."
It was nice talking to him. To make a long story short, I was helping my guy buy voltage converters. He has to travel to Cairo and needed a number of them. He was flying back home for a few hours before jetting off to Cairo. I offered to do the shopping and save him some time. He greatly appreciated it.

He asks for my opinion on various topics. He had bought a new suitcase and asked me what I thought of a hard shell versus a soft one. He felt reassured after I told him my view. It eased his mind.

I could hear in his voice that he missed me. He asked me to take a selfie of my new haircut. I don't like taking selfies, but he wanted to see me badly. I did and he loved the new hairdo. He wanted to see me on Sunday badly. The wait was too long for both of us.

On Saturday morning, I had slept in. Half an hour later, my guy called me on my cell phone. It was nice to start the day hearing his voice and chatting. His flight was later in the day, so he had time to shop and do some touristy stuff.

In the afternoon, my guy called me again from Macy's. He was looking for a jacket. I talked about getting all the voltage converts at great sale prices. He was so happy, because he is Cheap Bastard. He couldn't wait to see me again. The feeling is always mutual.

We texted before his flight, too. We are like teenagers in love. We can't get enough of each other.

Being apart this time around has made us closer than ever.

P is for pants

It was Monday morning. It was our first morning in Montreal.

My guy and I woke up at 07:00. He didn't have his cell phone by his bedside. Instead, it was across the room, charging.
"How did you sleep?" I asked.
"I sleep better with pants on," he said in his honest, boyish way.
My guy walked across the room to get his phone and finally shut off the alarm. It was the best way for me to wake up.

I admired his bare butt from afar. Although waking up to an obnoxious alarm wasn't great, seeing his bare bottom made up for it and more!

B is for birthday

It's day two of the Blogging from A-to-Z Challenge. So far, so good!

My guy's birthday was last Friday. We couldn't do lunch that day. I had agreed to have dim sum with our writing team.

It was a busy afternoon for both of us. My guy typically ends his Friday at 15:00. Instead, he finished at 16:30 and sent me an instant message after he was done.

I packed up at 17:00 and met him in the project room downstairs. He looked happy. We both did, probably because our workweek was over and it was nice to finally see each other.

I took out a small gift bag and wished my guy a happy birthday. He had a huge smile on his face. It never shocks him when I remember his birthday. It would shock him if I forgot!

My presents tend to be practical. My guy was recently in Turkey and his laptop charger died. So, I bought him a replacement, which is the same model that I have been using for four years. This charger allows you to change the tips, so I have used it for both Dell and HP laptops. It also has a built-in surge protector and a USB port. We are both similar in that we like a laptop charger in our bag and one at home.

I am a geeky girl. My guy calls me geeky gadget girl. He loved his presents, including this one.

My guy wanted to know whether I wanted to join him for dinner. Of course! After all, we both get hungry after working so hard at the office.

We both drove over to our usual Chinese restaurant, ordered dinner, chatted, held hands, stared into each other's eyes, and laughed for a few hours. It was the perfect way to celebrate his birthday.

As for his birthday spanking, he will be dishing it out on me soon. I can't wait!
