Depression and signs of love

A friend of mine told me the other day that his son has been suspended from his high school for a few weeks. It kind of took me by surprise.

His son has been experimenting with some sort of drug in pill form. He has been taking it for at least a couple of weeks with some friends. Apparently, while he was high, he slapped the butt of a female student, which caused his suspension from school.

You hear all these stories about pills that get you high and how potent they can get. Some simply die from taking a single pill. So, I am grateful that his son is alive. However, there must be an underlying reason why he experimented with his friends.

My friend advised that his son is depressed. His son is in grade 9. I always feel that the transition between grades 6 and 7, and grades 8 and 9 to be the most difficult. For me, it was the former. I was incredibly depressed in grade 7 that I didn't want to go to school. It didn't make sense considering how much of I love to learn. I needed someone to talk about it, but I felt like I was being dismissed.

My cry for help was missing a ton of school. I managed to get counselling, which helped me talk things through and out. It made me realize that, despite missing nearly a month of school, that I still had decent marks. I still passed everything. I even managed to get the third highest mark in shop class out of all things!

His son is obese. His parents and daughter are bright as can be. He doesn't fit that mould. So, he is getting help by talking things through. I can only hope that things getting better for my friend's son and his family.

I told my guy about that. My guy and I know that both depression and anxiety tend to run in the family. Support is key. My guy has been doing pretty well getting help and being on medication. Naturally, it's different from one person to the next.
"I miss you," I said to him after our chat.
"Likewise," he told me. "I miss smacking your butt for being you."
"That makes me happy," I said.
My guy is happy and doing fine these days. I can't ask for anything more.

I went to the local drug store later that evening to pick up some vitamins. I found the purple sheep stuffed toy that my guy had bought me. There was only one left. It seemed like a nice sign that my guy is always with me, no matter where I go.

It's nice that I can come home and have reminders around that I am loved, especially when he is abroad.

Change is coming professionally, with my guy being his supportive self

My guy has been in Seattle on business for a couple of weeks. We have been talking on Skype every single evening except for last Wednesday. He fell asleep in front of TV and didn't wake up until 03:30 my time.

Friday was not a good day for me at work. As far as my workload goes, it is worse now than it was in January. I told my manager that I am tired of doing the same work for over five years and that I am always the one who ends up bailing everyone else. Sure, my pace to complete my work is faster than my colleagues. However, I should not have to bear the burden of having more work because of my faster pace.

Yes, it sucks that a writer quit and I have to fill in this gap. It is sad that I am no longer doing lead writing duties. My career is stagnant.

I told my boss that it's time for me to find another job. He can't help me develop my career goals. The company isn't backfilling the departed writer's position.

I asked my guy whether he could let his boss know that I'd be interested in doing what my guy does. My guy didn't hesitate. He feels that I would be fine, because I am articulate, I know the products, and that I wrote the documentation to show folks how to use them. It would also mean that we'd work in the same department again if this career change happens.

As bittersweet as it is to turn away from writing, my current predicament is the push that I need to do something different with my career.

My guy was supportive on Friday night. He told me not to worry -- that I always manage to get out of stressful situations and handle them well. He also said that the company has plenty of room for me to find another position that I truly love.

He came back home on Saturday. It was wonderful seeing him again. Being in his arms, kissing his sweet lips, knowing that he loves me, and getting a fun spanking meant a lot.

My guy misses me and vice-versa

Normally, I am the one who tells my guy that I miss him. With my being on vacation, my guy is missing me even more than he normally does.

While he doesn't flat out say that he misses me in e-mails, the frequency of receiving them says a lot. He writes one to me daily. They are fairly detailed. It's a sweet gesture on his part. It's nice to be loved and missed.

Today was a good day. My former professor has been living in Ottawa for the last four years. I met up him for the first time since he moved away from the greater Toronto area. It was great catching up with him for five hours.

We went to a cafe to talk first. We then changed venues and visited a Chinese restaurant for dim sum. The food was delicious. I showed him how to use chopsticks. He did well. The teaching session reminded me of teaching my guy how to use chopsticks.

I think of my guy often. It'll be great seeing him next week.

The aftermath: a sore, achy bottom

My guy did a pretty good job the other day. He spanked me well.

Normally, the soreness disappears after a day. There is a bit of soreness left from the spanking that I received on Wednesday. It's day two.

I wrote him a brief e-mail yesterday. I had one line that said, "Being a lucky girl with a sore backside forces me to walk around more."

He responded to my e-mail by saying, "Hope all is good and you're not as sore. :)"

It's cute that he says after he spanks me that he doesn't want to hurt me. He hasn't. I can take what he can dish, as I know how much pain I can tolerate. He'll know when I can't take it.

I love being sore after a decent spanking. It shows how well the spanking was done. I feel good. I feel loved and I am happy.

I get to see my guy next Wednesday. The soreness that I am experiencing now will be long gone by then. I expect that he will use the slotted bamboo spoon on my backside next and I will have more to say about how sore my butt will be late next week. I am looking forward to it.
