Loans update
Yes, loans is plural.
For the last two years, I have been paying off a secured loan. The idea is to pay money towards this loan and build equity. The regular payments, in turn, contribute to building your credit history and score.
I realized that I truly didn't need this loan. I was doing fine steadily paying my my debt of regularly. I wanted to simply pay off this loan. It was a huge lesson learned.
Well, I had the opportunity to get out of this loan by taking out a regular loan. I don't get why I needed the second loan, but I did it.
I have officially closed the first loan. I got my equity back, which I immediately put in my RRSP (Registered Retirement Savings Plan) account.
I paid off the new loan immediately. Yesterday, I called the loan folks and got confirmation that it is both paid off in full and closed.
As for paying off my debt, it's still going well. I look forward to seeing the amount that I owe go down. It's satisfying to see my progress. It's like night and day between my financial situation a year ago versus what it currently is.

Taxes and financial outlook
Things at work are better. For a while, employees didn't get bonuses for three years because our company was digging itself out of debt. Last year, we got a bonus and it was amazing. I get one again at the end of the month, which is supposed to be better than the previous year. Yay!
I am looking forward to taking that money and paying off my debt. I also hope to invest some of it. I am working on an emergency fund in my savings account. It has been years since I've had a decent one.
I like that my financial situation is getting better. It has taken a while, but it's nice to see things coming together.

Mac mini update and new iPod touch
I'm not ready to get a new one. I have a MacBook Air that is getting on in years, but works a lot faster than my MacBook Air. I don't need to shell out for a new one. They aren't cheap!
I went ahead and got myself an iPod touch. I have been doing so well with paying off my debt this year. I thought that it would be a nice gift for me that I know will last for years. I need a bit of joy.
I'm writing this post on my phone. The software update is expected to take another forty minutes. Here's hoping that all goes well.

Optimism with finances
I have a loan that should be paid off by late May or early June. It's difficult to predict when the last payment day is. I made extra payments, which is throwing off how the last day is being reported. I dislike how inflexible computer systems are.
Anyway, I estimate that sometime in June, I will have more income to build up my emergency and retirement savings, and continue paying off more of my existing debt such that I don't need to care about maxing out my credit cards.
I'm so happy with my progress.

Bonus pay coming soon to my chequing account
I have a loan that will be completely paid off at either the end of May or early June. I am putting this bonus pay towards paying off a credit card. I will be in decent financial shape come the summer.
It's nice to look ahead and see how bright my financial situation will be. Yay!

Optimistic outlook on my finances
I am optimistic about my finances this year. A loan that I have had for nearly five years ago will be paid off at either the end of May or early June. This loan was to consolidate a large amount of debt. It frees up money to put towards other debt, which won't be a whole lot when I get there.
The toughest part is getting through the next three months. Last year, my debt situation required that I dip into my retirement savings. For years, I did not touch it. I had no choice last year. You get dinged for taking this money out before you retire, which will be reflected in my income tax return. My thinking is that I had to deal with being behind with my debt payments that it was worth the risk taking money out of my retirement savings.
With the loan payments being over in early summer, I will be able to put money back into my retirement savings and build it up. This plan makes me happy.
I have come a long way. It will be nice to get back to having my finances back in check.

Chatting with my sleepyhead while heading over to pick up a cheque
He's doing well. He was in good spirits and let me know that he was enjoying eating guava. I love guava, too.
He said that he would call me back after picking up my cheque. He didn't. I assumed that he ended up nodding off to sleep. He lives up to my sleepyhead nickname for him.
I'm glad that he called. He made my week and started off my weekend on a good note.

Debt and credit card reductions
I am hoping to pay off one of them in a couple of months. I have been working on it for a while and I see a bit of light.
My ultimate goal is to get rid of a grand total of two credit cards this year. Last year, I got rid of one. I don't know what possessed me to have so many credit cards. They are evil!
My guy feels the same way about credit cards. You only need one or two.
It's nice that we can chat about finances. It's healthy.

Taxes, finances, and date lunches
Any time away from work is relaxing to me. From getting groceries to blogging, I will take it all!
I spent Sunday working on income tax returns. I had filed mine in early March. My parents tend to give me their receipts and such in early April. I got them on Saturday and completed them early Sunday evening.
I have also been on a mission to look at my finances and be minimalistic. Last year, I paid and got rid of two credit cards. I was so pleased with that accomplishment. I still have some work to do.
Within the past couple of months, I have reduced my spending. I don't need to shop as often as I used to. I am doing well in that department. I am inspired to continue.
On Monday, my guy is at the office for the entire week and all of next week. It'll be wonderful having lunch with him for most days, except for those days when I am working from home. I am looking forward to having lunch dates with my favourite date.
