Anticipating a new car delivery

I am getting a new car within the next week or two. I signed for it with my sales representative back in late June.

Originally, the car's delivery date was scheduled for four to five months from late June. I was thinking that having my car in October or November would give me plenty of time to save up.

Nope, the delivery date's estimate is sometime next week or early September. Thankfully, it has been enough time to put down what I owe upon delivery. 

The most painful part of switching cars is dealing with my insurance company. I don't like being placed on hold with my insurance company to get my policy switched over. Luckily, I don't do it often, but it can take up to a couple of hours. It's not great, but the company has been good to me.

I started clearing out my car last week. There isn't a whole lot. The last thing that I will dismantle will be my Sirius XM satellite radio, which is separate device with cables. I wish that it were built in to the car's stereo, but it hasn't for years.

Update on my phone and panties

Things are busy at work. We are less than a month away from a major software release, so it's expected.

My new phone is expected to arrive on Monday now. Although the wait seems like an eternity, I am okay with it. I bought a purple cell phone case online, so I hope that it arrives roughly at the same time as my phone. I still need to get a screen protector. I'm making progress.

I'm exhausted, which was one reason why I decided to skip posting yesterday. However, I wanted to say that my cute panties are so comfortable that I am considering getting a pair each month.

Lack of a delivery notification, but my modem works wonders!

Contactless delivery is interesting. Amazon does it right. If you are a Prime member, it delivers your package by placing it on your porch or front step, snapping a photo of your package and where it is, and the app lets you know that it has arrived.

Yesterday, I was expecting my modem to be delivered. It was 5 pm and I hadn't received it. I sent an e-mail to my Internet service provider for the tracking number.

I did get the tracking number about an hour later. It said that it was delivered at 2:14 pm. I was home eating lunch at that time. I didn't hear a door bell, knock, or cell phone ring.

Sure enough, I opened the door and it was sitting on the door step, in the rain. Thankfully, it was wrapped in a plastic bag.

Canpar, you need to be better at notifying customers. My cell phone number was on the front of the package. You could have texted or called me. It only takes a few seconds. I wasn't aware that you had delivered my package that stayed outside for four hours.

My package could have been stolen if we weren't going through a pandemic. If the package wasn't so carefully packaged, the rain could have damaged my modem.

On a happier note, my modem works well. I use the faster wifi band for work and videos. The slower band is for tablets and slower devices.

It's like night and day so far. I am looking forward to trying it out when I'm working from home in a few hours and doing meetings over my wifi connection.

Thankful for being employed during COVID-19 uncertainty

I am fortunate to be able to work from home during this COVID-19 pandemic. I work in the IT field and have a laptop. Other than spending more time and effort communicating with my colleagues, I can comfortably work from home and get paid.

My employer has asked all employees to work from home till the end of the month. Well, that date got changed to April 10. It will mean that it will be five weeks of working from home for me. Perhaps it will be extended some more.

I look at the restaurant business here in the greater Toronto area. Restaurants have shut down dine-in services. Takeout and delivery services are the only ways that these restaurants can offer their services. Bartenders and servers can't work from home. They are either laid off, or their employer pays them and then suffers the consequences of losing money daily.

I feel for businesses these days, especially local ones. My ordering takeout from them here and there will hopefully help a bit.

Here's hoping that we can resume our regular lives when this pandemic disappears.

Staying at home all weekend and getting free food to cook

I have been at home all weekend. The snow has ended at long last. All is well.

I got free food from Goodfood for a week on Sunday. All fresh ingredients to cook various meals are included. I look forward to cooking and trying out these recipes.

I should go to bed. I have enjoyed sleeping in all weekend. Sadly, I won't be able to sleep in until this upcoming weekend.

Chatting with my guy about stick shifters

My guy called me as he was driving back from a small town forty minutes away from where he lives.

"What were you doing there?" I asked him.
"I'm getting a shifter for my classic car," he said.

He explained that he can't shift between gears well on the existing one.

"The shifter needs to be tight," he explained.
"Yes, I have lots of experience with your shifter being tight," I teased.

He was telling me that he found some in the States, but duty and shipping fees would kill him. I reminded him that I was driving over the border in less than two weeks. I advised that he could ship it to the hotel where I am staying and I'd drive back with it.

He loved that I would do that for him. I just asked him to let me know when he has completed his order. I'd then drop it off to him when I return from my weekend getaway.
