My manager and a moisturizing mask

My manager has been away all week. He mentioned on Monday and Tuesday that he wasn't feeling well, and that what he has is not COVID-related.

As much as it has been great to not have a cluttered inbox at work, I'm concerned. Here's hoping that he feels better soon from whatever he is recovering from.

I spent the last hour caring for my face. I put a moisturizing mask on my face. It felt good. I can't remember when I last did it. I should focus on caring for my face more often.

Roles - reversed and maintained

In our relationship, I tend to be the one who is punctual. My guy is the tardy one.

Our roles got reversed today.

I left 1.5 hours before we were to meet at 13:30 for lunch. There was a ton of construction everywhere that I ended up needing an extra twenty minutes to get to the restaurant.

My guy called me just before 13:30.
"Hey, there. Where is the restaurant?" he asked me.
"When you get off the highway and travel south, you are turning right, and then right into the parking lot," I pointed out.
"Cool. I'm nearly there," he advised.
"I'm not. It's pretty bad on the roads,"  I replied.
"It's okay. Take your time," he said.
My guy rarely worries. However, he was concerned when he still didn't see me. I had pulled into the parking lot when he was leaving me a voice message.
"I didn't want to think that you were in a car accident or something," he said.
"I'm okay. It's just horrible road work and traffic today," I replied.
We had forty minutes to eat lunch, which was more than enough time for us to eat and chat.

My guy being directionally challenged and my giving him directions showed that we didn't change our roles there.

Middle ear infection, work changes, and reassurance

I got concerned when I tried contacting my guy on Skype and he wasn't available for a couple of days. He called me on Thursday afternoon.
"How are you, sweetie?" he asked me.
"Things are crazy. My colleague, mini me, is leaving the company in a couple of weeks," I replied.
"Oh, no," he replied.
"It's okay. I hope that she is happy in her new job. I am also used to getting thrown back into regular work," I replied.
"Well, you have a couple of students to help you out soon," he pointed out.
"I know. More importantly, how have you been? I tried to get a hold of you, but you must have gone to bed," I asked.
"I haven't been great for the last couple of days. I went to the doctor and found out that I have a middle ear infection. I'm on antibiotics," he said.
"Oh, geez. I had that. It hurts when you fly, mainly takeoff and landing. I had that years ago and didn't have antibiotics when I flew. I think you should be fine by the time you fly out on Saturday," I said.
"I hope so," he replied.
It's his way of being reassured that he'll be fine. He seemed relieved that I have been through it and was fine. The only difference is that my middle ear infection caused some instability with my balance. It was mild. For him, he's perfectly fine.

Here's hoping that his antibiotics continue to help mend him.

Wiping out on freezing rain

There was freezing rain overnight. On Monday morning, I headed out the door and to my car, trying to get to work.

I didn't realize that there was freezing rain on the driveway. I walked, lost my balance, and wiped out. I haven't wiped out in nearly a decade.

The good news is that my fall wasn't bad. I landed on my left hip, towards the back where the fleshiest part of it is. I was holding my hat with my mittens inside it in my left hand. When I landed, the stuffed hat acted as a cushion.

I told my guy that at work through text messages. He works from home most days.
"Glad you're okay. Are you at work or did you stay home?" he asked me.
"Yes, I made it to work," I replied.
"Take it easy. Thank goodness you're working from home on Tuesday and Wednesday," he replied.
He's sweet when he's concerned.

We are trying to get together this weekend. We like getting a hotel room. It's fun and enjoyable when we do.

Jet lag and e-mails

I woke up Tuesday morning to find two e-mails from my guy. He normally doesn't send me a couple of e-mails in rapid succession.

Naturally, I looked at the first one:
Why are you offline for 12 hours? Are you okay??
He was looking at my status on our corporate instant messaging application. I thought it was sweet that he was so concerned.

The second e-mail had the following content:
Wait a minute, it's only 6:08am in Toronto. I got worried there for a minute. Talk to you later!
He is sweet, especially when he travels and the time difference briefly messes him up.

We talked later in the day. It was during my lunch hour, which worked out well.
"You're sweet to be worried about me," I said to him.
"I have to be worried about you. You're my sweetness."
He's such a sweetie.
