Throwing out the past and finding an NHL team to cheer in the playoffs

I spent Sunday getting rid of things at home. This task will take a while, but I have made some decent progress.

Many were either reminders of my ex-guy, such as a fake flower in a vase that he got, along with my manager at the time and an intern when I went into the hospital for surgery. It was back in 2011, shortly after we had started dating.

Looking at this item doesn't bring me joy anymore. It occupies space on my dresser and I needed to get rid of it.

As for hockey, the Winnipeg Jets, Minnesota Wild, and Toronto Maple Leafs have ended their playoff season. I don't know which team I should cheer on now.

Masks

In Toronto, it is mandatory to wear a mask in indoor public areas, such as grocery stores. In my area, this bylaw takes in effect next Friday.

I have eased into wearing a mask, even when we didn't have a bylaw. I find that when I'm in a store that has one-way arrows on the floor to let you know in which direction you should be walking, most folks don't follow them. I'd rather have a mask on in such circumstances.

I own a total of four masks. Three have the same pattern. All four are cotton and have small flowers. I definitely stand out in a crowd. Everyone either has solid black cloth or the blue disposable ones.

For some reason, I can't see myself getting disposable ones. I am good washing my mask and reusing it after every use.

Meaningful hugs with my directionally challenged guy

My guy's plane was scheduled to arrive at 07:30 on Thursday. The plane had touched down ten minutes early. However, he had to wait longer for his luggage.

I could have slept in more, but got up just before 07:00. My outfit consisted of a short pair of blue shorts with a floral pattern and a purple v-neck sweater. A matching pair of lacy black bra and panties were underneath.

My guy eventually arrived at my hotel room at 08:35. I opened the door and we embraced lovingly. It was the I-have-missed-you-so-much type of hug. The door wasn't even closed yet!

We finally moved a couple of steps into the room and closed the door. We hugged some more, with a few tender kisses squeezed in. I got to caress his uniform head, which I find sexy.
"Can I freshen up?" he asked.
"Sure," I said, taking his coat.
My guy opened my closet. I pointed to the washroom.
"Directionally challenged still... some things never change," I remarked.
"Yep, I'm still me," he said, smiling, and headed in the right direction.
It was great to have him back.

Being compassionate is positive

I am fortunate to have three students this term. One of them, before she started her internship, had indicated that she needed surgery in July.

She had her surgery last Wednesday. She stayed in the hospital for a couple of days and has been discharged. She is resting comfortably at home.

I am a sensitive person when it comes to such matters. When my manager injured his eye, I got everyone on the team to chip in for a fruit bouquet. When another writer on my team got injured in a car accident, I ordered a flower and food basket while I was in Montreal training writers over there on behalf of our team.

With my other two students, I made the suggestion to send her a get-well gift. They liked the idea.

As expected, the one student who started in May took the initiative to look up floral gifts and even order it! The other one, who has worked with me the longest, is the youngest, and doesn't exhibit as much initiative, seems to be more comfortable with these two students than the last one that she was with. I am glad, because the other two are slightly older and are mature beyond their years.

We all corresponded back and forth about the floral gift, how to expense it, what to write, and so on. It was a good exercise in being caring human beings.

They will do just fine in this world.

Flower fly swatters as spanking implements

As mentioned in a previous post, I visited the local dollar store. I was there to get some Krazy Glue for one of the wheel stoppers on my Gazelle glider, which I use practically daily to work out as I watch TV.

My guy, whom I affectionally call Cheap Bastard now and again, got me into visiting the store. The first couple of months that we were dating, he managed to buy a couple of bamboo spatulas from a dollar store as spanking implements. They work effectively and they have not splintered across my bare bottom.

As I browsed, I noticed the garden section. Yes, here's hoping that winter is finally over!

I found a two-pack of flower-shaped fly swatters. They look like this picture, except that one of flowers is purple:

I tested them out my slapping one of them against the back of my hand. They are pretty flexible that I am sure that they pack many decent swats across my backside.

I told my guy about my find. He was proud that I got them for a decent price, that they were in my favourite two colours, and that he couldn't wait to spank me with them.

It was a wonderful find. I will report back on how they fair when I get spanked with them.
