Heatwave, dole whip, and a perk

The heatwave and extreme humidity disappeared yesterday. It was nice to turn off the air conditioning and have my windows open. I prefer cool breezes while still seeing sunshine.

Two days ago, I went out for a perk. I got a free cupcake and cookie. They were good.

I also indulged in some dole whip. I got raspberry and mango flavours. It was refreshing on a scorching day.

It's Friday. The weekend is within reach.

Eye appointment, cafe stop, and writing advice

I visited my ophthalmologist yesterday. All went well. I go back in six months, in my usual monitoring mode. I'm happy.

I got to visit my favourite cafe next door. I was so happy getting a raspberry white hot chocolate and an albacore tuna sandwich. Yum and yum!

A fellow writer at work in California reached out to me asking for advice. I'm not sure how she found me. I hope to ask her that question next. She's apparently new to her project.

CPR and a cosmo

I completed two parts of a first aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course this month. I did my test today and I am certified. Yay!

I haven't done a CPR course since I was in grade 8, which seems like eons ago. I'm glad that I went through this program, despite things being rather crazy at work.

My staycation continues. To celebrate this fine milestone, I had dinner at the restaurant attached to the hotel. It makes a decent raspberry blood orange cosmo. Yum!

Turkish delight and tastebuds

A couple of weeks ago, I picked up two boxes of Turkish delight that my guy has bought for me from Istanbul. He left them on my desk at work. I picked them off after having flown in from Shanghai and had to pick up my car at the office. I have grown to love Turkish delight.

Years ago, I tried the Turkish Delight candy bar that you get at the local convenience store. I disliked it. It tasted gross.

The authentic, flavourful version from Istanbul is yummy. My guy and I went into a store and I sampled raspberry Turkish delight. It was so good. I have longed for it ever since. I asked my guy if he could get me some.

My guy apologized that he couldn't find any. I was so sick with bronchitis that my tastebuds were shot. I had a cube of Turkish delight once I got home and imagined that it tasted like raspberries. I could only figure out that there was some acidic flavour in there, but couldn't make out what flavour I was eating.

My tastebuds are back. He got me two boxes of assorted fruit flavours, with rose ones mixed in. The orange, lemon, and strawberry and yummy. I have always enjoyed the rose.

He did well. I am also thankful that I can enjoy tasting what I eat again!
