Heartbreak advice from Dax Shepard

I was listening to an episode of the Ellen on the Go podcast. Dax Shepard was on the show for a segment called Dr. Dax. It's where audience members ask him advice.

He offers funny and sensible answers. There was a woman who had just been dumped and asked how she should handle heartbreak.

He first joked and said that she should sleep with every female friend of his. The more serious answer was to say, "It is only temporary," as a mantra.

It's similar to how I am approaching my broken heart,. It is temporary. Time will help and heal.

Dr. Death podcast

I love listening to podcasts. I have probably been listening to them since 2005.

I am currently listening to Dr. Death. It deals with Dr. Christopher Duntsch, a neurosurgeon who operated on 33 patients and eventually murdered three of them. He was an incompetent medical practitioner and the Texas medical board didn't act promptly when the first wave of complains came in.

It's a six-part podcast. I am listening to the fifth episode and can't wait for the final one. I feel for his patients who were operated on by this crazy doctor.

Sunday lounging

I tend to enjoy doing little on Sundays. I literally lounged for most of the day yesterday.

I think that work makes me enjoy my weekends more. I work so much that weekends are reserved for whatever I feel like doing. If I feel like doing nothing, I do just that.

Well, if you consider that I spent the day listening to music and podcasts, I suppose that I did do something. I also spent some time playing Doodle Fruit (yes, I am still addicted to the game) and working out.

My guy doesn't mind when I take a day out for myself. He constantly tells me that I deserve it.

He is here for almost a week before he goes on the road for a couple of weeks. It'll be nice to see him before we resume chatting on Skype.

Private sex life of rough sex the cause for employment termination?

One of the first few podcasts that I listened to when I got my first iPod was Q, which started off as an arts and music podcast on CBC. It was hosted by Jian Ghomeshi, who was the former drummer of Moxy Fruvous back in the 90's.

This podcast grew in popularity, to the point where it became a video podcast and a TV show. He was a decent, intelligent host, who made guests feel at ease.

Jian and I went to the same university for our undergraduate studies. He was several years ahead of me and we majored in different areas (he in fine arts; me in geeky computer science and math subjects).

I say that Jian was the host. It wasn't meant to be such an abrupt ending. He had worked at CBC for fourteen years.

Last week, Jian had indicated that he was taking a leave of absence, to grieve for his father who had passed away.

Well, CBC decided to terminate his employment. That isn't exactly the best timing when one of your shining stars is going through a tough time.

There is a lot more to the story, which is unfolding with every day that passes. Jian was allegedly fired because of his "private sex life," and "false accusations pursued by a jilted ex-girlfriend and a freelance writer."

Jian wrote a long message on his Facebook page. He elaborates on his private sex life with a woman in her late twenties, which he feels that CBC felt was reason enough to fire him:
We saw each other on and off over the period of a year and began engaging in adventurous forms of sex that included role-play, dominance and submission. We discussed our interests at length before engaging in rough sex (forms of BDSM).
Naturally, we need to hear all sides of this story. However, I do not think that Jian is obligated to explain his private sexual life to the world. It is just that -- private. His employer should not make a judgment about him based on what he does in his bedroom and be dismissed as an employee for what he does away from work, if this point is indeed the reason for his losing his job.

As much as I get along with my colleagues at work, I never want to share my private sex life with them. My guy is my colleague, but we are in a relationship. What we do in our relationship, especially behind closed doors is private to us. I would be horrified if I were let go from my job because management found out that I like having my bare bottom smacked hard by an attractive guy who holds my hands behind my back and punishes me. It has nothing to do with how competent I am doing my job.

We will see how things progress this week. Jian is suing CBC for $50 dollars, likely for wrongful dismissal.

In the meantime, it would be nice if Jian could be left alone to grieve for his father.

Being naughty and being spanked in the dark?

We have over a week to go before we see each other again. We have been writing e-mails to each other daily, simply because my guy's Internet connection at the hotel has not been great for online chatting.

This weekend, he is travelling to a different part of India. This client has booked his hotel room. We are hoping that the Internet connection is better, so that we can Skype.

As you can tell, it's pretty quiet these days as far as spankings go. We haven't talked much about it. It has been nice to talk about regular, couple things in your e-mails. We've also had some silly moments.

Of course, it's also that time of the month for me. I feel like a blob. Luckily, the blob feeling tends to disappear after a day or two.

In the meantime, I have been catching up with my podcasts. A couple of years ago, I downloaded Piers Morgan Tonight. I used to listen to Larry King Live until Larry King retired. I came across this interesting transcript between Piers and Ricky Gervais back in 2011. The latter had just finished hosting the Golden Globe Awards and had offended many nominees.
Morgan: You know what happens to naughty boys back in Britain?
Gervais: Oh, this is getting weird. Larry King never did this?
Morgan: You know what happens to naughty boys, Ricky. They get taken into darkened rooms and they get a thoroughly good spanking.
Gervais: OK. I'm leaving.
I like how some podcasts catch my attention more than others.

My guy and I have a similar sort of banter. He'll ask me whether I know what happens to naughty girls like me. I will say that I don't know. He will tell me that they get spanked.

I am not sure whether getting taken in a dark room and getting a spanking would work for me. I don't like the idea of him spanking me in the dark. It's dark. He could miss the target, for instance. It's definitely more practical to spank me under some light source and see my backside glow as more smacks land across it.

My guy and I tend to not have sex in the dark. We like to see each other's reactions. We like to know what we're doing. If we did so in the dark, we would likely fall asleep faster.

I am always a naughty girl. I do need to be thoroughly spanked -- just not in the dark.
