New week with more training

Weekends certainly fly by. I'm back training my new colleague. It's week two.

She's not a technical person, but I do appreciate that she's hard-working and determined.

Here's hoping that this week will pass by as fast as this past weekend.

Bloodwork and breakfast

In a few hours, I'm getting bloodwork done. I made the appointment on Saturday. I'm glad that I remembered to do it.

Here's hoping that it goes smoothly. I'm fasting for it. I'm already thinking about where I'm going to get breakfast.

Bloodwork later today

I'm getting some bloodwork done in a few hours. I am fasting for it.

During this pandemic, bloodwork is fine. Urine samples are not. It's one less thing to worry about.

We'll see how things go. Last time, I sat in my car and didn't get a call from the lab to come in, which was apparently the procedure. Instead, I called the lab and then got in. I will repeat for this visit.

Watermelon juice and a Vitamix

Another weekend is over. Weekends fly by too quickly.

We are still experiencing a heatwave. I have been into making watermelon juice at home. It's pretty simple and is refreshing on a hot summer day. It's just a question of cutting it into cubes and blending it in my Vitamix. Done!

I got my Vitamix a few years ago. My first blender lasted 19 years before I replaced it with my Vitamix. I am fortunate that my small appliances last longer than I anticipate.

I'm off to bed. Have a great week ahead!

Bloodwork, fasting, food, and work

In a few hours, I go in for some bloodwork at the the lab. I am in fasting mode.

I'm not sure why I decided to spend half an hour looking at eateries where I want to have breakfast. It's not helping me right now! I'm just sitting here, salivating over my upcoming meal.

This week is odd. Yesterday, I was at the office. Today, I'm working from home. Wednesday, I'm back at the office. I work from home on Thursday and Friday.

I'm pleased that I get to take a break from my long daily commute. Next week, I'm at the office for the entire week, so my commute balances out in the long run.

August staycation and pay

It's August. Summer seems to be breezing by fast!

The long weekend is coming up. I am doing a mini staycation. I am looking forward to it.

I have a few things to pack. I have travelled a fair amount in July that pretty much everything I need is still in that one piece of luggage.

I like August. I get paid three times, which makes me feel rich for a brief period. It's good.

Training and the weekend

Yay to the weekend!

I have been busy getting ready for training my new student on Monday. It's amazing how my materials get outdated as technology changes. It has only been four months since I last delivered these training materials.

I enjoy training. It's a nice change from my regular work. I just don't like the craziness. That's why I love weekends. They are much needed.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

Sharp pain from walking fast

On Friday night, I was walking around in a mall and had a sharp pain happen in my left buttock and hip that I haven't felt in a while. The last time I had this pain was the start of sciatic pain decades ago.

I have decided to take it easy all weekend. On Saturday, I felt good until I walked faster while at the drug store and the pain came back. Taking ibuprofen helped. I also slowed down my walking pace. I have been good all weekend ever since.

Here's hoping that it was a fluke and that the issue has gone away. Getting full-blown sciatica isn't fun. It is extremely painful and takes months for the pain to subside.

Hong Kong breakfast - so good!

I fasted for my bloodwork. All went well. I will wait patiently for the results.

Afterwards, I was hungry and needed breakfast. I visited a Hong Kong-style eatery. For just under $7, I got macaroni with luncheon meat in soup, two fried eggs, two sausages, buttered toast, Hong Kong milk tea, and hot water.

The macaroni and luncheon meat in soup reminded me of the food my mom made growing up. I never had it for breakfast until now. It was so filling.

This breakfast special is an all-day menu item. I may need to go back and get more. I can see myself hanging around that place when I am retired.

Productive weekend and WhatsApp for my laptop

Weekends blow by so quickly. Just like that, this weekend is over.

It was a productive weekend. I am doing some writing for a side business project. I got excited about it in the past, got distracted, and then lost some of that excitement. However, it all came back this weekend.

I am to provide content for a Web site. In past jobs that I held, I did both writing the content and putting the content up on the site. It was the case with all Web sites that I designed for me.

I don't control the Web site for this project, so I have to feed the content to a person. It's difficult to visualize how everything will fit. I asked him to post everything and then we can review the site.

The other reason why I lost interest is that most of my writing happens on a laptop. Our little group uses WhatsApp on our phones to chat. It was such a turnoff to provide the content through this app by copying this content from a document on Google Drive.

I managed to install the desktop version of WhatsApp and it made a world of difference. Yay!

Here's to another week.

Keto diet and Mr. Meanie

My guy called me from the gym. I like when he works out and chats with me.

He was excited to learn about the keto diet. It's like the Atkins diet, but there seems to be a fasting component, too.

Doing a low-carb diet did me a world of good. I lost sixty pounds and have maintained it over the past six years or so. I got so inspired talking to my guy. I have re-introduced carbs in my diet, but I feel like going back to eating salads instead of sandwiches for lunch.
"I have only been on this diet for a week. I like it so far, " he admitted.
"That's great. Keep at it," I encouraged him.
"It's not like I want to be mean and lean. I just want to control my sugar levels," he explained.
"Well, you are my Mr. Meanie, so you're half of that still," I teased.
We laughed. I like when he tells me about things that excite him. He likes when I listen to him and get equally as enthusiastic.
