Y is for yandwich

My guy's first name starts with the letter y. My guy looks sweet, adorable, and at peace when he sleeps.

When we first shared a bed together in St. Louis a few years ago (he was there for work and I took a week of vacation), I noticed that my guy sleeps resting his head on a pillow, and places another one on top of his head. It's endearing. It's also clever because the pillow on top of his head blocks out both the light and sound.

Because it looks like he has two slices of bed cradling his head, I have deemed his pillow method of sleeping to be the Yandwich.

In Montreal, on our last morning together before I drove home, my guy slept with the top pillow off his head for a brief period. To me, it was only fitting to call that the open-faced Yandwich.

  2. I do the same thing with my pillows! Pillows are perfect for blocking out unwanted light. Sometimes the full pillow can be suffocating, though, so I've been known to take the loose end of the pillowcase, pull it over my eyes, and tuck it under my face so that just my eyes are covered. An eye mask might be easier...

    1. Nice that you and my guy have a similar sleeping technique!

I used to work shift work, so I ended up putting an eye mask on during the day as I tried to get some sleep. The problem for me is that I have bangs and the mask would sometimes ride up. I'd end up with a frontal mohawk some days!

I can't sleep with a pillow on my head. Like you have mentioned, I find it suffocating. Perhaps I need to find a travel-sized pillow or a smaller one than what I have and give it a try.
